I’m new to mandolin. For the price this mandolin is very nice. Finished well. Decent tuning pegs. Sounds good and is easy enough to play with the action, frets, and strings just as they came. The bridge will need to be set up. The mandolin came with slack in the strings and a piece of thin foam protection under the bridge. Set up was not a big deal for my beginner needs. I measured from the nut to the twelfth fret. Then equal distance from twelve to the bridge. Sounds good. Stays in tune. Intonation seems ok to me. But I have a beginner’s ear. I am glad I bought this. It will take me years of practice to outgrow this instrument.

Just ordered some new tuning pegs (Bnineteenteam Mandolin Machine Head 4L 4R String Tuning Pegs) The ones that came on the m510 do not tune well and will not stay in tune. For the 14.00 for the new heads I am hoping that this will give me playable instrument. At this price I do not expect magic but should be playable. PS I have owned guitars and bases and never had a problem changing or tuning strings! Also this is a new mandolin.

My son loved this mandolin. He is an accomplished guitarist but wanted to try mandolin. He tuned it and was playing tunes in less then thirty minutes.Good purchase!!
