I always used my hands-----no, no, no. This goes in the ice bucket and it is well made and a clever device and grabs the ice with little teeth.

I ordered a set of these ice cube tongs and they arrived timely and were packaged nicely. The ends of the tongs used to grab ice are wide enough for standard ice cubes and the tongs stay open with a sturdy spring. However, the “underside†of both lightweight SS handles are VERY sharp and definitely pose a risk to cutting your hand/fingers. I took both pair of tongs and manually sanded down the very sharp edges and the tongs are now safe to use. Just be aware of this issue if you choose to buy these tongs.

These tongs work very well. They are sturdily constructed with a firm spring action. Stainless steel makes them look good as well as wear well though heavy use. I got them primarily to use as ice tongs but have discovered that they also work well with hot ears of corn, etc. I may purchase some additional units to have for even more uses.

I received two different sets of tongs, this pair and tongs that came with the ice bucket I bought. I much prefer these. They have a strong spring, the metal is sturdy and has a nice sheen, best of all the claws that hold the ice have small teeth that grip very well. I prefer larger pieces of ice, and the teeth are great at holding onto even the heaviest and most irregular chunks.My only negative is that the edges of the metal are not as well-finished as I’d hoped. On both sets I got, the exterior edges won’t cut your skin, but they almost feel like they might, and the internal metal edges aren’t smooth, they have tiny bumps. Not a dealbreaker for me, because I’m very satisfied with everything else about the tongs.

We bought these to use for the 2†diameter craft ice our new fridge makes and like many other reviewers stated, you have to be extremely careful of the razor sharp edges. I didn’t learn the hard way in this case, I took out one of my wife’s nail files before using and in a couple of minutes problem solved. They fit perfect around the ice, the teeth never let the spherical ice slip and the small size fits nicely in the ice tray in the freezer and look great. I wouldn’t have given 5 stars if the problem wasn’t easily resolved. Recommend as long as you heed the warning.

Do not buy — edges even on the handle are sharp; such poor quality. I cut my finger just picking up out of the packaging. Not the end where the claws are but the handle
