I would like to start off this review with a bit of background on myself. I have been towing trailers all kinds, lengths, weights, bumper pulls, 5th Wheels and Goosenecks. For well over 1 million milesI recently purchased the Icon AeroShield Wind Deflector WD600 after returning from a 7200-mile trip round trip. Mid November 2024.My hauling truck is a 2022 Ford F450 Super Duty King Ranch 6.7 Diesel weighing in @ 9600# over all Fuel Economy driving in perfect conditions tire pressure and speed limit is around 19.2 MPG. Towing in these conditions I get around 17.9 which is great. However,The trip no AeroShield. I left North Carolina with a 16ft V Nose 7000# Bumper pull Cargo Trailer Empty Load levelers and anti-sway bar. Fuel Prices across Hwy 40 from NC to CA were ranging from $3.19 to $5.75 per gallon. Elevation changes from 495ft above sea level to 7330ft above sea level. I stared off @ 17.9MPG as the fuel blend changed elevation changes, weather changes i.e. temperature and wind etc. by the time I got to the west coast I was @ 14.9MPG. still not bad.Return trip pulling a 26ft Bumper Pull Toy hauler loaded to the weight limit. this was the first trip that the fuel across the country was changing to the winter blend. With high winds across the Mojave Desert until just outside of Needles CA my fuel economy had dropped to 14.1MPG. This is where I saw the first of my fuel economy decline. By the time I returned to NC I was @ 10.1MPG. I really didn’t like this number.Research and remembering the days when I was a kid seeing big rigs with a wing on the roof to help increase fuel economy. I found the Icon AeroShield Wind Deflector WD600. Tech support is fantastic. Once installed I headed to Alabama from NC. No Trailer at this point even just the little bit of deflection from the stowed position increased my milage to an average of 22+MPG. I picked up my new Horse trailer a 2025 Harmar Dixie Outlaw 8312GLQFE with a 26ft Box. 17,000# empty. Trip back to NC I really didn’t pay attention to the fuel economy I was in traffic and paying more attention to the handling of the new trailer.First week in December 2024 we headed out trailer fully loaded with 1 horse to drop in Dublin, Texas the on to Santa Rosa CA. Beginning of the trip I was happy with the fuel economy the AeroShield was set as per the manufacturer's directions top of the Shield pointed at the top of the trailer. Fuel Prices ranged for $2.84 to $6.39 per Gallon Trailer weight somewhere around 25000#. Slow mountain driving in Tow haul Mode Auto Engine Break I was @ 12.9MPG for thew 1st Day as the fuel stops progressed the fuel and weather played a big part by the time I reached CA I was @ 11.1MPG. I decided to raise the Shield to the maximum. I wasn’t sure if the fuel economy would change or not. To my delight it did. Even with all the climbing a weather temp & wind conditions which were more severe than the 1st trip without the AeroShield and the winter blend of fuel getting to more stations, by the time I reached NC I was averaging across the whole trip 11.5MPG. I am very impressed with the product & highly recommend it.I will follow up on this review in the spring when fuel is back to normal & weather is better, the trip will not be as far however will be along the same route Hwy 40 East to West and back. Looking forward to see what the difference is. Also, as side note for Diesel Truck owners this is my first truck with DEF the winter blend of fuel drastically increases the amount of DEF you consume, I left NC with the truck saying 8500 Miles until DEF empty. With that being said I used 40 Gallons more.

I was skeptical about this product because of other reviews I have seen about poor results or making mileage worse. I gave it a try anyway. My f150, camper shell, pulling a 6x10 enclosed trailer above 70mph got 8-9 mpg the truck ran in 4th and 5th gear rarely shifting into 6th. 70 mph there was just a wall and mileage went down from there to 6 and 7 mpg. Passing tractor trailers you could feel the turbulence . I got the product and mounted it permanently to the roof of the camper shell as close to the rear as I could get. Adjusted the air flow to go right over the top of the trailer. The first trip out, averaging 75-80 mph I got a consistent 12.4 to 12.7 mpg, turbulence was greatly reduced and barely noticeable. The truck ran in 5th and 6th gear and didn't do a lot of up and down shifting and stayed in 6th more than 5th except for steep grades, never dropped into 4th like before. I dont think it looks bad on the truck , collapses down when not in use. I could not be happier with this product.

Well worth the investment for my truck and Fifth Wheel. I have gained a little in the fuel economy department. Which makes this product well worth buying. And if anything, it will certainly cut down if not eliminate the amount of dead bugs on the front of your unit.It comes complete with all of the straps, suction cups, and every fastener appropriate for each truck. Once you get everything installed the first time, which is a snap, installing this after that is very quick. It is light enough for one person to handle. Just make sure that you install this as far back as possible while the product being level. This way you get the optimum benefit out of it.The only cons I can think of are, you have to pay for it, and it does not break down to store it. So you are going to need to make space to store it. You can, and I do drive around town while away from home with it folded down, secured to my truck. As for fitment, it fits perfectly on my 2012 Ford F 350. Again, they come with several clamps in order to secure the straps to your particular vehicle. I haven't seen this particular deflector sold anywhere else. So Amazon is your only choice. But I do believe it is worth the money, in the long run.

Difficult to measure an absolute MPG improvement, however I know there is an improvement as I used to have to turn off economy mode in my tow vehicle, previously I'd notice sub par performance in the first few miles of towing as a reminder to turn off economy mode. The first time I used the Icon, I drove over 100 miles without noticing any performance issues in economy mode. With the Icon I also notice very high instant MPG numbers on descents, overall I'm estimating about a 1 MPG improvement, but reducing the load on the engine and transmission makes this purchase worthwhile for me.I happen to have a setup on my Dodge Durango that I was able to mount the Icon on the roof rails and against the rear cross bar and use heavy zips ties to secure, which was very lucky as the icon recommended straps for my car did NOT work, not even close. If I didn't have the option to use zip ties I would have had to return the Icon.

I bought an all aluminum trailer to replace my steel trailer that was rusting out. The new trailer was lighter but actually higher. I didn't realize how much more drag that created. I bought this item even though I was not sure it would fit on my 2017 Pacifica. I had to come up with my own system of attaching it. U-bolts and rope ratchets (from Amazon) attached to my top rack rear cross bar made it rock solid. The base sits on an angle but it works fine. For me, it made an amazing difference. It now tows as good or better than my old trailer. Lower RPM and at least 2 to 3 more MPG.

Très bon déflecteur d'air. Ce que j'aime moins, c'est de le démonter (10 minutes) après chaque utilisation, parce qu'il fait entendre un sifflement désagréable lorsqu'il est baissé sur le toit .

I purchased a new air deflector for towing my trailer thinking it would give me better gas mileage but it didn’t. It may have saved me 11/2 let per 100 KM . So I got permission to return it. I paid $976.63 and was refunded $193.00 less so I contacted them and the young lady said she would look into it and That I would get a Email from her and that someone would get back to me within 48 Hr . aI never heard from her again and no one ever got back to me.I will never deal with Amazon again and I am going to cancel my Amazon credit card as will . Hope you never have to go through this. Phil Harrison

Unit goes onto truck easy and seems to help with mileage. Bracing to hold it up in the wind could be a little more strong as it does tend to flatten out in a strong wind if not tightened down real good. Other than that good working unit.
