After searching high and low for about two years at various stores, I finally found this stainless steel sink strainer; it's really the only one I think is worth bothering with. The kind of strainers that sit directly on the sink collect gunk underneath them and must be lifted up constantly to spray water underneath. This one stays clean, makes it easy to keep the sink clean and can be popped into the dishwasher regularly to keep it sanitary. The stainless steel does not rust or corrode over time. I've had mine about three years and it looks the same as day one. Even the little rubber pegs on the corners come out totally clean when put into the dishwasher and they are on tight; they never fall off; not once.

I received my item promptly and it is perfect for my sink. I have an irregular shaped large sink that is in 1 piece.Although there was an option to buy 1 whole huge grid from another seller, I did not wish to spend all thar money which really seemed ridiculous, I think it is much better to have 2 separate grids in the sink for the ease of cleaning.I already had a smaller version stainless steel grid I had purchased and used for off line shop that is very sturdy and clean as new for 8 yrs of daily use till this day, and in comparison, the new grid has more smaller lines and looks a little thinner and shorter. But it is still very nice and fits nicely next to the older one. Although the height is not exactly the same.I love how I can place the dirty dishes on one grid and place them on the smaller one to be rinsed clean. So much easier to flip and wash them inside the sink too with 2 smaller grids instead of 1 huge whole piece.I will be watching to see if this does not rust with use over the yrs for from my previous experiences with some stainless steel products, some of them actually do rust over time...Hope this one does not rust and gives me the satisfaction for many yrs....

Basically it's suitable for stainless steel sinks with almost vertical walls and flat bottom. That's because the feet are short, which are a small loop of steel protected b a rubber cover. I have a traditional porcelain sink with curvy walls and bottom. So the grid is "standing" tall on the sink by the 4 corners instead of the 4 feet, with a 1 to 2 inch gap from the bottom. You can also find a small grid relative to the sink so the feet stands on the middle flatter portion of the sink, leaving a larger gap at the sides.Since the grid is touching the sink only at the 4 corners, I use 3/8" ice maker tubes to protect the porcelain. I cut the tube into 1/4" lengths. Make a slit on each tube section so they wrap around the grid at the corner. You need several tube sections to cover each corner. It's effortless if you use an oscillator tool. Metal blade is always suitable for plastic. Update: I use semi clear 1" silicone tape (x-treme tape) to wrap the corners. Much easier and much better. The tapes stick to themselves and don't come off, day in day out.The grid is rather stylish because of the thicker flat border and the middle ring. It's not like the grids for the oven. As for the hole I think it's about the right size. Yes, the plug and filter doesn't come through the hole. But you can unplug through the hole without taking the plug out. Some plugs are designed not to be taken out completely. You can pour liquid containing trash into the hole and into the filter/strainer. It's better than without a hole. If the plug or filter can come out of the hole, it's two large at about 4" or more.I used to have a mat. I'm now sold on the idea of a metal grid. First, my wife ended up cleaning the mat everyday because she can't stand the stain on it. I suppose there are mats that don't stain (that much) but plastic grids or mats are food traps. With a stainless steel grid, I'm confident enough to drain fish, fruit on it, as well as cups and dishes. This is a plus.My main aim is to protect the porcelain. The glaze on the porcelain is wearing thin and stains start to develop. I don't want to paint is with toxic stuff, possibly coming out gradually. My wife grind more to remove the stains, wearing down the glaze faster. It's a downward spiral. I don't want to replace the sink because it only make sense to replace the whole worktop. And if you replace the worktop it make more sense to replace the ageing cabinets. It's also about time to replace the floor. A grid is the much better choice for now.The metal grid doesn't protect, say, glass cups as much as a plastic mat. But that's not the point. Also, the landing is a lot softer on the grid with some flexibility than on rigid porcelain.

This chrome protector lasts so much longer than the plastic coated ones. The first chrome one I bought lasted over ten years and is still going strong. I put it in the dishwasher every once in a while.

I have a white sink and always like a white sink protector. However, after having gone through several coated ones that chip and rust and look terrible, this looks good and clean and like new after several months. I suspect I won't have to replace it for quite some time.

I scratched my sink with a cast iron skillet and got this to protect my sink from future scratches or dings from dishes. It work perfectly. I’ve washed it in the dishwasher on the top rack, the rubber feet keep it in place. I highly recommend it.
