I've tried all the yarn holders. Various bags with holes in them, yarn bowls, twirly spindle single-cake holders, they've all given me trouble in one way or another. This magnetic yarn holder is genius! No more yarn cakes popping off when it gets small, or tangling up. And it's perfectly portable. Wins all the way around with this one! In fact, I just ordered a single yarn holder to go with my double yarn holder to give me future options. For the shawl I'm knitting I need 2 yarns at a time so this is just absolutely perfection.The ONLY thing I would say is be gentle, or it will spin too fast and then you have to stop and unwind to get the yarn back to where it needs to be.

I never knew I needed this! Omg I love it! Holds my phone so I can YouTube my crochet videos with my ear buds! Holds my crochet hooks! The magnetic yarn holder is perfect! Holds and spins with ease! Was super easy for my husband to assemble because I’m lazy lol! There’s space on it where I can lay my scissors if needed. This also makes a great gift! Thank you! I love it!

UPDATE:Overall, this thing is pretty cool, but I had some difficulties with the manufacturing.I ordered one as a Christmas present for my SIL in early December, and the thing arrived in subpar condition: one of the arms wasn't finished properly with the wood really rough and discolored along the top. Also, the crochet hooks that came with it were all loose in the box, a few of the pieces didn't fit together as snugly as they should have, and the box was damaged. It still worked, but I wasn't happy with it.I was going to order a replacement, but a new one wouldn't arrive until it would be WAY too late.Instead of replacing it, I ordered one in the other color since shipping was faster, but it arrived in even worse condition than the first one.After a few messages in response to my poor review, and also a few awkward messages due to the language barrier, customer service immediately sent me a replacement (for the second one) that was MUCH better and I was able to give it to my SIL for the holiday.She loves the reel and the hooks- she thinks they're perfect.Overall, the customer service for this seller is great- they really worked hard to fix the issues that I had with the product quality, so I've changed my review from 1-star to 3.It genuinely is a cool device- it just took a few tries before I got one that wasn't somewhat defective- I'm assuming the manufacturing got a bit rushed before the holiday; but once I got a good one it was an excellent present for a serious crochet-enthusiast.

I was initially concerned that the spindle wouldn't be long enough for some of my skeins of yarn. So far, I have been able to squish factory skeins of yarn onto it without effecting how it dispenses the yarn. It's handled my larger cakes of yarn with ease. It really does make crocheting easier. My yarn no longer drops on the floor picking up cat hair or dust. I will say, my larger yarn cakes will occasionally pull on the base enough for it to move on my table. The phone rest fits my Pixel well. The little holder for the hooks I'm using for my wip is a nice addition but I admittedly forget to use it most of the time. The extra hooks were not necessary. I don't need more hooks and they don't offer anything better in regards to grip. I would have preferred not to have them included.

This magnetic yarn holder works pretty well for most skeins of yarn that don't draw from the center of the skein. There were times the yarn almost seemed to tangle but then the yarn eventually came free. This was during a short test with limited yarns and during real use tangling could be an issue, I don't know but I doubt it.The little extras are barely worth a mention but the slit in the front does hold my phone (that was a big surprise). The little cup will hold a few crochet hooks - more or less depending on what kind they are. The crochet hooks that come with the yarn holder are the newer large diameter shank hooks that I can't use. I've been crocheting since I was a child of 8 or 9 years old and I'm in my 60s now. There's no way the muscle memory of that long can be changed (I tried).The yarn holder is easy to put together. It's just three screws and a screwdriver is included. The quality of the parts is good - all parts are well sanded and screws fit nicely in their holes.I do think this yarn holder is a bit overpriced for what it is. It's a few pieces of wood and a couple of screws. And some magnets. Once it's together it is a useful thing to have.

Do not purchase this double yarn holder. The magnets are not strong enough to hold even a 5oz. or 141g. ball of yarn. I returned this for a refund.
