Inspired by the melting ice in Lapland, Ultima Thule was designed by Tapio Vircara, a great designer who has created many pieces in its relationship with Iittala for over 40 years. A one-of-a-kind design that takes a long time and the spirit of the craftsman to complete the technique of creating a creative surface. Ultima Thule is the northern island of legend. It is said that the ancient Greeks believed that the island was closed by ice and snow that never sinks the sun, was the end of the world. The majority of the great designer Tapio Vircara careers piled in Iittala and is a versatile artist who has created nearly 400 pieces in his relationship with Iittala for over 40 years. Among them, the most famous work was Ultima Thule inspired by the melting ice in Lapland. Thousands of hours spent to complete the blowing technique necessary to create this creative surface.

The headline -- "Double Old Fashions" -- was confusing to me, since what I evidently ordered was "Single Old Fashions". The glasses are still stunning and I love them...they just don't match the six double old fashions I already had and was trying to match.

I already owned these cordial glasses and love them. A couple had been broken due to moving. I ordered 2 and they were a perfect match. I ordered my first glasses over 50 years ago. They are always admired and I will be looking to buy the wine glasses, now. How great to fine a company still producing these terrific glasses

I read in an article in Martha Stewart Living magazine the comment that enjoying a drink from these double old - fashioned glasses was like drinking from ice - and it is! Something about the overall design. Also, these glasses are not just beautiful, but robust, too. Even those little legs on the bottom. I bought mine as a gift to a graduate of the 2020 class. I'm afraid she hasn't received it yet ... can't seem to give them up. I better reorder- and this time have Amazon ship directly to her in one of their attractive gift bags.

These are beautiful glass and are a joy to drink adult beverages out of. One does have slight defect on the lip, but it’s so small we barely notice it.
