This trash can will certainly last the rest of my life but it is the heaviest can of its size by a factor or 2-3.

The iLIVING commercial fiberglass fire-resistant 7 quart rectangular trash can, made in China, measures 8.9 x 6.4 x 10.3 inches which is smaller than two gallons of milk placed side by side. The trash can with its thick bottom and side which seem to get thinner towards the top weighs 1.8 pounds.I could use a couple small trash cans for the bathrooms. The iLIVING commercial fiberglass fire-resistant 7 quart rectangular trash can seems too small for typical business use, but its compact size seems perfect for squeezing in between a cabinet and toilet. No thought was given to the trash can’s appearance, although the trash can is functional.I didn’t test the trash can’s fire resistance, however fiberglass is an inorganic fire resistant compound. Fiberglass items that burn tend to be manufactured with burnable epoxies. It shouldn’t be that difficult to create a fire-resistant fiberglass trash can simply by selecting the right ingredients to blend the fiberglass with. The iLIVING commercial fiberglass fire-resistant 7 quart rectangular trash can is compact and fire-resistant. While the durable trash can may be aesthetically displeasing, it will perform its task well. If you’re looking for a small trash can and fire resistance is a concern, the iLIVING commercial fiberglass fire-resistant 7 quart rectangular trash can will get the job done.PROS:Fire resistantCompact size perfect for tight spacesDurable designCONS:Basic appearance

The 7 quart version of this trash can is quite small. It could easily be used in a bathroom or a bedroom, where there is not a large volume of trash accumulation. The color of this vessel is definitely more gray than beige (maybe pewter?). The box it came in showed it was available in 3 different colors (beige, gray, and black), but none of those were checked on the box, so I am not sure how they could differentiate what color of trash can was in the actual box. I am only saying this because I wonder if the can I received is actually the gray can, instead of the beige can. I don't see the other two colors of this trash can available on Amazon, so you might want to be prepared to receive a more gray than beige trash can if you do order it! The style is as pictured--very simple and plain, which shouldn't clash with most home decors. The added value to this trash can is that it is fire resistant. If you still have a smoker in the house, then this could be helpful when emptying ash trays. In fact, an alternate use for it could be to put in some sand or potting soil and then set it outside on the patio or deck and use it for smoking refuse (cigar and cigarette butts!).I would have given this item 5 stars, but the issue with the color and the fact that it is quite expensive for a trash can (even if it is fireproof) just doesn't warrant the highest rating. It is a good, functional item, and, given the current price, it makes the most sense to purchase this trash can only if you definitely require its fire-safety feature.

The picture makes you think that it is a "normal" size trashcan, but the 7 Q one I got is actually pretty small. Think bathroom or countertop trashcan. Instead, go a bigger size if you want something under your desk.I have to say, this is one of the most solid trashcans I've ever had. The base is thick and the sides are super sturdy. It's also not very flexible, so if it's going to kick around a lot, then a more pliable trashcan would be better to avoid cracking.

I love the convenient size of the 1.75 gallon trashcan, which fits perfectly under a printer stand next to my drafting table. The neural cream color blends perfectly with my decor, and its solid fiberglass construction will keep it from denting/breaking if I accidentally kick it. I especially enjoy knowing that the Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the nationally recognized, independent product safety organization, gave it a seal of approval for not melting or contributing fuel to a fire. It's also not supposed to emit toxic fumes. I know I will get years of use out of this trash can.

This is for the 1.75 gallon version. This thing is very small. Smaller than even my other small trashcans that I keep around the house. This can be either a good or bad thing depending on your situation. On one hand, it is easier to fit into tight spaces, like under the counter. But on the other hand, if it is a trashcan that you plan to use a lot, then maybe you want to get something a little bit bigger. The color is a bit more grey than beige, imo. Although the color is a little bit of both. The trashcan has a little bit of weight on it so it is not cheap. Nothing is fireproof imo. But this would be a good trashcan to put near a heat source if you wanted to put inflammable objects in here, for example. Or if you wanted to reduce the risk of fire, put this trashcan in the kitchen. Preferably under the counter since it has no lid.
