Why you need a hand pump ？
1) Control the pressure as required ! You can stop at exactly the spot in the pressure curve your PCP likes. With a scuba tank, it's hard to stop at exactly the right point because the pressure rises so fast.
2) Once a scuba tank or carbon fiber tank starts dropping in pressure, you cannot put more into a PCP than is available in the tank. With a 3000 psi 80-cubic-foot tank, a pretty common size for a scuba tank, that happens pretty quick. When it does, you're stuck putting in less than a full fill for a great number of fills.
3) In the end, you're only putting in enough air for a handful of shots before it's time to fill again. Not so with the pump, because you can go to the right stopping pressure each and every time.

Pump is nice and solid feeling but but the quick connect leaks before we even got part of mini scuba tank filled.sprayed it with soapy water and it bubbles.

So I ordered this pump to fill a Smaco scuba tank and after putting it together I find that all the air I'm pumping is coming out of the water cooling valve. So I look for the cap and it doesn't come with it. So what good is pump that leaks out all the air. The other disappointing factor is that the directions are just bad doesn't really say how or when to change gaskets or put together.

While not the quickest or easiest method, it's a lot cheaper than the real HPA pumps out there. It's also more portable and virtually no maintenance. If you only need to top off your PCP on occasion vs. doing it regularly, this is a great option.
