If you work in the video or photography industry, then you already know the power and versatility of these clamps. However, if you are a novice, or just starting your adventures and videography and photography and you’re looking for the right clamp for a job, such as holding a piece of camera or light equipment then look no further, this is exactly the type of clamp you want. These things are built to be as rugged and sturdy as possible. When you are placing hundreds, if not thousands of dollars worth of equipment on a clamp, you have got to buy something you can count on and this is exactly that. I use it all the time, and more importantly, when I use it, I have peace of mind that it’s going to work exactly the way I needed to.

Note: This review is just on my first impressions. I have not actually used it yet.Right out of the box, I noticed its a lot lighter than the Matthews Matthelini version of this clamp. I love that it's made of a lightweight metal. I just hope that it's just as durable. It definitely feels cheaper.Another positive, theres a cut-out groove along the full spine that keeps the top jaw from swinging out of alignment from the bottom jaw. That's pretty useful because the Matthelini version swings all around and can be just a bit annoying. Also the rubber padding is a nice touch.I also like that this is cheaper in price as well. I just hope it can last as long.

I used this clamp with a C stand to hold an 8 foot long product for photography, which it did, no problem. It is also great to use for mounting lights or a camera. The end is a baby pin, just like the top of a standard photography light stand.

I've been using the equivalent clamp from Mathellini (Part 420210) for five or six years in the field. Decided to give this a go as a less expensive option for a more permanent install. For my use case, it works fine since I really only have to deal with it once, but I can't imagine the frustration someone would have using this in the field. The handle rotation is comically bad. The mobile side of the clamp gets caught every chance it gets. Though I appreciate the intention with a groove that keeps the mobile side from freely spinning, the way they've machined it leaves the edges sharp down the entirety of the shaft. For the price, it is technically capable of doing the job, but I could never recommend it to someone that had to regularly interact with it.

Only improvement would be a better adhesive on the rubber, as the rubber buts tend to come off if mounting a light upright instead of hanging it.
