SYWUWV NPT FEMALE Y STRAINER is a device used to filter impurities, particles, or suspended solids in fluids. It is commonly used in wastewater treatment, chemical, food processing, petrochemical and other industries. And it is used with a wide variety of fluids including, but notlimited to water, oil, gas, air, biodiesel, and fuels.
PRINCIPLE OF Y-STRAINER
The impurities in the fluid are blocked through the filter mesh, while the clean fluid is discharged through the filter outlet, thus achieving the purpose of purification. Y-strainers are usually installed at the inlet end of pressure reducing valves, pressure relief valves, globe valves or other equipments for removing impurities in the medium to protect the normal use of valves and equipments.

These simple fittings are a good way to protect your boiler or other hydronic systems from damage due to sediment. Additionally, fitting some galvanized pieces in a black pipe/cast iron system such as this helps protect components from corrosion, as it is coated with zinc which functions as a sacrificial anode.

This Y joint strianer is just what I needed to keep trash out of my input for pressure washer. I have had trouble with debris getting in my pressure washer input. I added this in line and it catches the debris. It is well made, very nicely protedted by caps on the threaded fittings. The mesh filter is easy to take apart and clean. It threaded right up with no leaks. This is high quality hardware.
