Innovating Science acid spill kit is used for cleaning up acid spills in the laboratory, and has polybags, twist ties, blank shipping tags, dust pan and brush, vermiculite absorbent, neutralizing mixture (calcium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, calcium carbonate, and litmus powder), and vinyl exam gloves for containing spills. Vinyl resists oil, has low moisture absorption, and is non-conductive. The kit includes an instructions and material safety data sheet (MSDS) packet for product information and handling procedures. The polybags measure 9.0 x 16.0 inches (L x H). (L is length, the horizontal distance from left to right; H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point.) The kit is suitable for age 13 and older with adult supervision. The kit is not subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) shipping restrictions.

Hope we won't need it, but we do use a lot of hydrochloric and sulfuric acid in our lab. Apparently we are required to have a designated acid spill kit, to keep our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) folks happy. This is a pretty standard spill kit just with an additional container of neutralizer for the acid. Prior to getting this spill kit, we were just keeping a 5lb bag of baking soda on hand, but I guess having a legitimate "spill kit" is more permissible than a bag of baking soda. ~$50 is a small price to pay to keep EHS happy.
