I use this in my classroom every year with my 2nd graders. Easy to open and allows them to put their hands in to touch the butterflies after they emerge.

My favorite caterpillar habitat. I raise monarch caterpillars and release them when they are butterflies.

My students and I raised butterflies this spring. They started as caterpillars, and then emerged from their chrysalis in this butterfly habitat. I love the habitat, but I wish it were not so prone to staining. When butterflies "hatch", they emit red meconium which stains the cage and netting. So after one use, the habitat looks kind of gross with all these red stains. I'd still get it again however.

I didn’t read the details and thought it was to place over growing plants in the garden. I ended up cutting off the bottom and staking it over the butterfly weed after I saw a couple monarch caterpillars. I think this will protect from their predators!!
