I was skeptical of caterpillars being shipped and surviving to become butterflies. This product exceeded my expectations, all the caterpillars survived! The instructions were easy to understand. My 3 year old daughter and I had a blast watching them go through their transition. She loved setting them free as well. Great activity for toddlers. I will buy more of these and include more neighborhood kids next time.

I hesitated to order the caterpillars in July since it is sweltering. The caterpillars made it on time and were all very healthy and hungry! My grandson has enjoyed watching the metamorphosis process. We had one issue that was easy to overcome. My daughter was going on vacation, and they all completed their caterpillar-to-butterfly transition on the day of travel! The problem was solved since they decided to take them to Florida on vacation and release the butterflies when ready to leave their habitat. Florida will be the perfect place for the cycle to continue! We could not be happier with the product and efficient delivery!

They all grew and we were able to release 10 butterflies. My students enjoyed observing the process and watching them grow.

My caterpillars actually arrived one day early and I was not present to receive them. I was worried that they would not live to delivery, but delivery attempted again the next day and they were all completely fine. Out of 10 caterpillars (I had ordered 2 cups) only one of them died before making it to the chrysalis stage, and all 9 of the chrysalises came out butterflies. My students loved them. The directions were easy, and everything went just as it should, minus one caterpillar, which happens. I will order them again for my students next year!

I gave 4 out of 5 stars, because 4 out of 5 caterpillars made it to butterflies. One caterpillar was dead on arrival.

We do these every year at home and the kids absolutely love it. I do believe in the 4 years we’ve done it we’ve only ever had one not survive shipping. Everyone else has always emerged beautifully and some will hang around for a bit afterwards!

I thought caterpillars would have been great to see their stages of development. Unfortunately the perishable package was opened by CBSA and the containers with caterpillars were disturbed and they died. I will not reorder.

I ordered 10 caterpillars, however, only 6 out of 10 made it into Chrysalis form and 3 have fell from the top of the lid attempting to latch. Now I have 3 laying on the ground of the habitat and 3 that have managed to properly latch to the lid. Because they took so long to arrive 4 died attempting to chrysalis because the box did not create the still, fragile transport that would have been required for them to latch to the top of the lid of the cup. I am hoping the 6 remaining chrysalises survive and can still hatch properly. My complaint is that they were already out of the caterpillar stage upon arrival. Timing is everything with getting to properly experience this and have it work out.
