some tips about using the drill bit

installer drill bit

mind the wire and plumbing

NEVER USE A CABLE BIT INSIDE A WALL WITH EXISTING WIRING OR PLUMBING beacuse it will cause damage and a big loss

installer drill bit

a good quality power drill is a must.

Using a good quality power drill is a must. For larger diameter bits you will need a power drill with a high torque rating. We always recommend using two handles.

installer drill bit

FLEXIBILITY

the bits are made from a high quality Spring Steel and all will flex to some degree the shorter bits are not as flexible as longer ones. , the 1/4 in. shank on the larger diameter bits is much less flexible than the 3/16 in. shank on the smaller diameter

installer drill bit

the drill bit can be broken not in good use

Cable bits are not indestructible, too tight of an arch when drilling can make them snap. If you are drilling in a wall keep your power drill close to the floor to prevent

over stressing the bit.

some tips about using the drill bit

installer drill bit

clear the chips in time

Reversing the rotation of the drill to clear chips at any sign of binding or when drilling through more than a 2 in stud will keep your bit from snapping and being

lost in the wall

installer drill bit

Powder Coat finish

the Bits have a Powder Coat finish to protect them from corrosion but not optimal for cutting edges and sometimes impedes the ability of your drill chuck to keep a tight grip on the small shanks. The Powder Coat finish protects the bits from corrosion but will cause the bit to drill slower until it wears off the cutting edges ,so drill a few test holes before using it in the wall. Also, removing the coating from the shank will help your chuck keep better grip

installer drill bit

RPM rule of thumb

The larger the diameter of the drill bit the slower the RPM

.Larger bit grabbing and bindingSlow it down and try again

installer drill bit

plastic box

a plastic box to protect the drill bit

when not in use and protect you

from unexpeceted hurt

RUN WIRES THROUGH EXISTING WALLS USING CABLE BIT TOOLS

You will need: Measuring Tape, Power Drill, Cable Bit for Wood, Fish Rods, fish tape ,Good Quality String

The procedure of Running WIRES THROUGH EXISTING WALLS

installer drill bit

Measurement brfore drilling

Measure from top of the wall

down to the opening you will be pulling the wire through so you know when you will be clearing the top plate. This is to make sure you do not drill through the roof and to let you know if you are hitting the rafter. Make sure you are using a drill bit long enough to reach

installer drill bit

Start drill bit into the wall and aim it into a back corner the stud meets the wall

.Use the walking

ability of the drill bit to walk it up the corner by giving it short burst of rotation with your power drill.

Drilling in a corner will allow you to easily locate the hole with your fish rods and will minimize problems with

encountering insulation.

installer drill bit

Mind the DRILLING ANGLE

When you reach the fire block gently push the shank into the opening in the direction of the back corner. This will straighten out the bit so it will drill correctly through the obstruction and not veer off course

installer drill bit

CONGRATULATIONS! You have your hole through to the attic.

Stop half way through and reverse

to clear chips.

Continue drilling through after clearing chips.

Reversing the rotation of the drill will make it easy to remove from the wall.

installer drill bit

RUN THE WIRE

Thread a good quality string line

with fish tape

installer drill bit

use fibreglass fish rod to go through

Run the Fish Rod and string line up through the hole in the fire block and then through the hole to the attic.

installer drill bit

Using the light to save the time

Using the light to guide you in the attic, snag the line with a Hook Tip mounted on another Fish Rod. Pull the line towards you.

Securely attach your wire or cable to the string at either the opening or in the attic. With a helper feeding the wire or cable at one end pull the

string from the other end.

installer drill bit

Finally ,the wire go through the wall

after all the effort ,the wire go through the wall

I bought this to install lights in my ceiling between floors and I only had to drill the holes for the lights and nothing else. This drilled through the TGI's easily and did the job well. Easy to connect the wire to the end of it with the whole and pull the whole bit through the ceiling along with the wire.

Worked perfect. I was able to make an imposible hole and draw the wire back thru it in the attic. Very strong and also flexible enough to allow you to bend it in the direction that you want.

Horrible product. Get a bit that's better quality. The bit snapped off in the wall and I'm unable to retrieve it so I can't even return it.

Works as it should. Drill a practice piece first as recommended. It gets the powder coating off the tip. Cuts better.

I used these to drill several holes from within my wall through the subfloor into the crawlspace. The holes were used to pass speaker wire and hdmi cables. I did use these in conjunction with a 2" wooden bumper ball to center the bit. I also have a 1/4" installer bit that bites into the subflooring on the first try. This bit was more challenging and took a few tries for each hole. Once it bit it drilled smoothly through 3" of subflooring. I used this bit for a little over a dozen holes and the bit is till sharp.

It's a drill. It works great. No real complaints. Do have to say, it arrived in one of the largest boxes I've ever seen, which gave us all a good chuckle. But yeah, not much to say besides it does what it's supposed to do without issue.

I'm not an electrician, just a DIYer homeowner who has a decent amount of experience with basic electrical work like installing outlets, switches, and light boxes. I have had to run wire up into the attic and back down through a wall plate, but I did it the hard way (by measuring and drilling down from the attic). This bit allows me to drill up through the wall plate into the attic and then fish the wire back down, which is a much quicker and easier process. It has enough flex to bend through a small opening in the drywall, but is still rigid enough to transfer almost all of the torque from the drill and not flop around back there. If you're drilling an interior wall, you'll have a much easier time because there won't be any insulation in your way, just watch out for plumbing and existing wires. A probe camera will help a lot with that. If you're going through insulation, well... good luck with that.
