This Irish red has virtually no hop aroma and moderate hop flavor, and a moderately malty aroma and flavor. It has a very clean finish with a low toffee flavor. The use of roasted barley for coloring results in a slightly roasted red color and also creates a dry finish. picture is a representation of this product, ingredients may differ from recipe to recipe.

I reached out in the comments to ask another member how this turned out, but to no avail. Despite my reservations, I ordered the kit and in a few days a USPS box arrived at my house. I opened the box and found that there was no fluff, no boxed kit, there were just ingredients (partial mash) and instructions. The 6 pound pouch of DME and other pouches had handwritten on it what it was and when to use them. Admittedly I wrinkled my nose and thought what the hell is this. Brew day came and went and I had no problems with making the wort, everything went smooth. Eight days go by and I find that the FG reading on the batch is where I want it to be so I bottled 51 bottles of beer to condition.Fast forward 7 days now. I opened one to test it out. This beer turned out really good. The dark red color of the batch hails to it being a true Irish Red. The beer has a slightly malty flavor with subtle hints of caramel notes to it. It's not overly hoppy (which I detest in beers). I'd purchase this again in a heartbeat. As a note to other people who may buy this, I enjoy darker, stouter beers. This might have better results if you thin the wort out by adding an extra 1/2 gallon or so of water. My beer came out darker than what is pictured (see below), some people strive for that true "red" coloring, and while this turned out red, it is a bit darker than traditional Irish Red's.

After getting my homebrew kit for a father's day present, I was having a hard time decided what my first brew should be. Irish reds tend to be a favorite of mine, so I decided on this, even though I was a little sceptical because of lack of reviews. Box came pretty quick, all ingredients and instructions nicely packed. You could tell by the aroma the ingredients were fresh, which was a big plus. No problems making the wort, which smelled great. I left it in the primary for a week, then transfered into secondary carboy for another 2 weeks, which really enhanced the color and flavor of the beer. Tasted it when bottling and some notes were a little to strong for my liking, but after 2 weeks in the bottles, it mellowed out, carbonated great, and tasted amazing. Great red color, and probably the best Irish red I've ever had. I would strongly recommend doing the secondary fermentation for 2 weeks. Drastically improved the color, clarity and taste. I'm going to set a six pack aside for a few months and see how much that improves the flavor. Would definitely recommend this beer, even if it's your first batch. Already ordered another kit since most of the first one has already been drank.

Beer turned out great. In fact my neighbours helped me kick the keg in a few weeks and they’re constantly asking me when I’ll be brewing again

The ale actually came out with a nice reddish color. It tasted good too. I will brew this again.

Followed the directions to the letter. Bottled 7 weeks ago and there is barely any carbonation and beer is overly sweet (yeast hasn't eaten corn sugar). I'm new to brewing but this wasn't my first batch, it was however the first batch I've done that didn't turn out. I dunno what the issue was, seems like yeast provided didn't get the job done. Maybe just stick to shopping at your local homebrew shop if you can. Fresher ingredients that way.
