Used this with an old drill press to drill 2 1/4" wide holes for candle votives for our wedding center pieces. The self tapping screw is extremely aggressive at first so be ready. It grips the wood and pulls itself in (or your log upward) with a force that is hard to control. Once the cutting blades make contact, this thing cuts like butter. You will definitely need an air hose or shop vac to clear your sawdust and wood scrapings, especially if drilling vertically. After 40 holes at a depth of 2 1/2", the bit was still as sharp as it came in the box.

Self-feeder is very aggressive. As soon as the bit touched the wood it slammed the cutter into the wood stalled my drill press and nearly snatched the piece out of the clamps. I predrilled the center to defeat the self-feed and it worked great. Stayed sharp through a bunch of holes cut in 3/4" plywood.

I purchased this bit to make candle holders for a wedding decoration. The type of wood made a big difference in how easily the bit cut through the wood. Overall, the bit worked great and the candles received a lot of compliments!I used these candle holders: And the Candles (I averaged a 7-8 hour burn time):All three products worked great!

Well, with the speed screws in the center its ridiculously aggressive. If you're plowing through lumber I'm sure speed would be desirable, but for drilling a nice smooth hole into a hardwood project, not so good. Yes, you can remove the speed screw, but it leaves 1/4" dowel in the center that bottoms out before drilling through 3/4"...

This drill worked great, I had to buy a new and bigger drill to use it. This bit requires a lot of torque, not speed. We used it to drill a 24 inch hole in a carved tree stump. After burning up 2 household drills, we bought a drill that provided high torque and a moderate speed. With that configuration it only took about 10 minutes to get the job done.

On arrival, the bit was very rough in machining. There were burrs on all sharpened edges. I had to spend about 30 minutes smoothing them out. A really sloppy machining job. I’m disappointed in Irwin.

trabajan excelente. no dejan los cortes muy finos, pero si lo que necesitas es perforar, son perfectas.Aclaro, no son para taladros portátiles, a menos que tengas un dewalt dcd996 o algo asà enorme, no la compres.son para taladro de bando, los pequeño se atascan y calientan enseguida. Inclusive si usas el dcd996, que sea con bateria de 5 ampers, por que de 3amp para abajo se queman las baterÃas.En sÃ, una excelente pieza.
