I had the 1/4-20 driver from the same company. It has worked flawlessly for over a year's worth of use installing hanger bolts. I needed the 3/8-16 version for installing a porch swing. These positively drive the hanger bolt in using an impact driver...but they easily reverse off of the installed bolt. Much easier and faster than using two nuts jammed together.

This was the perfect tool to drive the 5/16" x 5" hanger bolt. I used it with my Ryobi battery-powered drill, but it claims to be safe for impact drivers as well. There were no problems, and it didn't mess up the threads on the machine-screw end of the bolt, despite some serious resistance from the wood.In hindsight, I wish there was a similar tool to back out a hanger bolt. Don't ask. Luckily, I had several of them, because the vise-grip pliers I used to remove the first one destroyed its threads.

I don't understand all the negative reviews, this tool is a God send. I use it to drive hanger bolts into the edge of plastic 3/4" planner boards, and doing it the old way (using an acorn nut threaded on to bolt then drilling in) took way too long and caused many crooked inserts. This tool is sooo easy to use. Just start the bolt end into the tool and then place on edge of board and drive to needed depth, reverse drill and spin back out. Does not harm the thread of the bolt and shows no damage to tool like a few people stated. I have driven over 200 bolts in half the time with almost perfect results. If you damage the tool you are doing something wrong, ball in bottom of tool prevents thread lock like when using jam nuts. Again a Fantastic tool, well worth 3 time the price.

I like using the 3-1/2" hurricane bolts/studs and figured this would be stuck after driving them in but not one seemed to ever get stuck. I am impressed!I ordered another 3 for the toolbox afterwards.
