If you can drill a straight hole you can install these. Best feature is that you can level your gate so it latches perfectly without issues. I was putting mine between 2 existing wood posts and it was a bit tight but I had just enough room to get them adjusted so my gate closes with no effort. Be sure to turn one upside down during install. This will prevent someone from just lifting the gate off the hinges.

This is one of those items that, you spend the extra money and you buy ONCE. LOL actually, if you buy these, your great grandkids will probably still be using them. After all, they are stainless steel and wear from rust is what kills many gate hinges. And these won't rust under normal use. If you put some lubricating grease on them, they should outlast even your grandkids. They did have a few small nicks on the threads because they were just packed in a corrugated box without any thread protection but, it was just cosmetic damage in my case. Still, -1 star for poor packaging of a good product. At $35.99 the seller should be able to put some thread protectors on these.

This smaller pin fits in the true 5/8" hing hole.You can either screw this into a 6x6 pole, or use it in a 4x4 post and extend the pin out from the post to give a wider gate the room to swing both ways.

... I am happy to do it again because these J-Bolt Hinge Pins worked perfectly for the two gates I placed on each side of our primary entry gate. Once I put some pickets on the gates, we'll be "All Set."They are sturdy enough to handle gates much larger than mine.

3 bolts worked, one bolt wouldnรขโฌโขt let the nut rotate right out of the box!! But wouldnรขโฌโขt move until a great amount of torque was applied at which point the bolt snapped!

ordered a size longer then needed to allow adjustment came with the nuts to do this work great for turning my old dog pen into gates for the yard

Ordered 10'' / 5/8" hinge bolt received 10" / 3/8" hinge bolts instead. I can see it would be difficult to determine the diameter as it is not marked on nor inside the box. Now I have no suitable bolts and I am leery of reordering as I suspect the same problem to recur. The manufacturer should at least document the length and diameter of the content to avoid these returns.
