Please read the Item description to figure out which wires are input and output. Not on transformer.Manufacturer should print CLEAR and PRECISE labels on product indicating 120v input and 24v output.Product works well once installed.

Our HVAC system's transformer burned out (dead-short on AC side) and I got this as a replacement. I chose it because I trust Jameco's branding but there was no sticker on it. However another review showed pictures of a branded one and the box was the same, so I'll assume it's the same manufacturer and just was lacking the label. The box was for a center-tapped version so I had to figure out the leads. Since the AC side is a higher voltage it will have more turns, thus a higher resistance. So I verified with an ohmmeter that the black was the 120VAC input, white the 24VAC output.I opened the metal casing just to examine the insides (see photo). Seems decent quality. No problems installing and has worked just fine. I will be adding a 0.5A slow-blow fuse on the AC side as it apparently has no fusing. I don't want this one to burn out too in case something is shorting the output.

Overall a good project transformer, it meets the claimed spec. I'm using it for a high precision battery charger.

The transformer works great and serves the purpose powering up my Nest thermostat. The only issue is to properly figure out the primary and secondary sides, otherwise you have a risk to burn it.Using the ohmmeter, the primary side should have a higher resistance compared to the secondary. The primary goes to main voltage and the secondary gives you around 27 Volts AC with no load.

Unit came with two black wires on one side and two white wires on the other side, but no clue as to which was the primary and which was the secondary. If you install it based on guessing, there's a 50% chance you will burn it up. If you know how to use an ohm meter and you know that the primary winding has a higher resistance than the secondary, you can figure it out. Transformer worked fine after properly installed. It is NOT fused, so I added a 1.5 amp inline fuse on the secondary.

The primary and secondary as shown on the box shows is a centertapped transformer, it’s not.You can probably figure that out when you look at the transformer. Also not labeled is which wires are which, pretty easy to also figure out. Black is the 120vac primary and white is the 24vac secondary. It does put out 2 amps at 24 volts, I checked it.

no documentation on the box for in/out. Wouldn't have helped if there was, one of the leads fell right out when removed from the box, it was not connected to anything. Do Not Buy This JUNK.

Used this to repair an aquastat with a dead internal transformer. Can't fit inside so have it mounted up top.Like that it has a metal protective shell. Seems to be coated in some shellac, guessing as a rust treatment and also reduce any vibration noise. As had been stated wire colors not ideal, nor labeled. Ordered several of these, both had bent up mounting tabs. Only took a moment to straighten back out, no big deal. Both output exactly 26.5VAC so quality seems consistent. Would order again if needed.
