Medium quality optics, suitable for casual use. Decent quality for the price. Suitable for hobbyist but not for semipro or professional use. Light is convenient and does help you see detail. Battery life is decent. Plastic construction so be careful when handling (don't drop it on cement floor)

First of all, you can't do much better than the price for something like these (or at least when I bought them). I am still overall satisfied with the purchase, but the price is the main reason why I am, considering the issues below. The good:1. Both devices serve their purpose. I bought them mainly for document use, rather than jeweler use. The desktop magnifier is the most useful in this regard and doesn't need to be on a desktop to be used. They both do the basics of what I need, but the desktop loupe is overall much better.2. The build quality of the desktop loupe is also pretty good. The not-so-good:1. The UV light function on the desktop magnifier is not of a wavelength that triggers most UV security features. Further, the brightness of the UV LEDs is pretty low. I wouldn't be surprised if these were more like purple LEDs than actual UV LEDs. They have not triggered any UV security features on most documents I've tried it on (passports, etc.)2. The desktop loupe's batteries run out pretty quickly and are not easy to replace, requiring some disassembly. It also requires a specific size of lithium "button" batteries.3. The foldable loupe is a bit awkward to orient and use on documents. Understandably, it seems to be designed to use more for jewels (which is not my primary use case). The 60x magnifier is way too small to meaningfully use and look through. It's still usable but pretty difficult. The white LED lights are not oriented in such a way that they will reflect on the subject in the way you want them to, reducing their effectiveness. This may require external light sources as a result.4. The build quality of the foldable loupe is not great, and the edges of the metal casing can be pretty uncomfortable.
