The Model Y Mirror Base Cover is a plastic part that covers the wiring from the bottom portion of the housing. Before our rearview mirror cover replacement, the only way to fix the missing mirror base cover is to replace the entire mirror.

I had a very minor incident with my passenger door mirror and a pillar. This cover is a true weak link of the whole mirror system. My frame was fine, but this cover was not. The OEM one broke on some of the inner hook spots. I watched the end of the YouTube video where the cover was installed. Start on the inside and move around the bottom of the mirror: Will I consider buying the OEM part? Maybe but this part works fine. It fit well. Make sure if you are fixing for an incident that you check for fit and are realistic. I’m happy. You can see the minor differences and some edge cleaning that could have been done. This piece from Tesla is $70. I am so appreciative to have this alternative.

I have ordered three plasric parts for my wing mirror from the same company (although they arrived a few days apart); I will paste this review for all three.One part —mirror cover aka skull cap — is painted to the car’s color (blue in my case); the color match is perfect. Even knowing that one of my mirrors is not original, you won’t be able to tell which one.There is a video on YouTube by Jaronx explaining how to put it all together. Everything worked well except that one of the pegs (hooks) on the inside of the mirror cover (near the tip) wouldn’t go into the corresponding hole in the bottom cover. I tried a few times and little hook ended up breaking off. However there are several other hooks that fit perfectly and the whole mirror looks like new and has just survived a 150-mile trip. I will take one star off for the little mismatch but overall I am very happy.

Instead of paying $1,000 to replace the right side mirror I chose to order this bottom cover for $19 and see if it fits my 2023 Tesla Model Y. Not only does it fit perfectly it function and lines up well with the top cover. The reason the video recommends removing the top cover first; is because, (at lease on my situation) the top edge will line up and snap better ones the bottom cover is secured first.

Purchasing this replacement part was a total waste of time/money, so I cannot recommend it. It was visibly smaller than the part it was supposed to replace and obviously did not fit. This speaks poorly for quality control of their products.

This fit perfectly on our 2025 model 3! The only difference is this one is matte and the original was glossy.Nice to know when the car auto parks itself into a concrete column that it’s a relatively cheap fix!
