About this item

  • Latest Model - Transfers the entire sax weight evenly to both shoulders and stomach
  • No stress on your neck
  • Can be put on by one hand in seconds
  • Saves space - smaller than a piece of paper when folded!
  • Very comfortable when sitting or standing, since it does not slip away

The Jazz lab Sax holder is superb alternatives to traditional saxophone neck straps. They eliminate all stress from your neck and transfer the weight of the instrument across the shoulders and to the stomach, using its patented three-point support system. This makes the instrument feel lighter and allows you to play for longer periods of time without worry of neck strain or back ache. To use, simply swing both the shoulder handles up until they click into place, pull out the telescopic slide and rotate the abdominal rest and you are ready to attach your instrument. The holder provides great comfort for the player when in a seated or standing playing position and does not slip like regular straps can be prone to doing. It is made from a mix of both aluminum to keep it light, Kevlar for extreme durability and neatly folds away to be placed within the bell of the Sax for easy storage.

This thing ROCKS. I'm primarily a tenor player. I have a T991 which is heavy. As I've aged (50's), my neck and back were REALLY starting to wear me out over 3 hour gigs, so on a prayer I tried this. SO SO SO much easier on my frame. The feel of this is weird at first; like the sax is suspended in space in front of you. The sax angle was perfect at the bottom of the reach right outta the box, but if necessary they include more cord so you could lengthen. Speaking of the cord, its very firm in its grab at the slider, so even when I shorten it for alto work it stays in place MUCH better than my last several neck straps. The tummy support looked suspicious to me....I thought it'd aggravate me, but it doesn't. I suppose if you're really really fat the tummy support might not suit you, but I'm a solid 25lbs over weight and this works just fine at the highest (which is where I prefer it; just under the sternum) or lowest (bellybutton) settings. If I was gonna complain, it'd be that some of the mechanism is plastic. I can see myself during an impatient moment snapping sumpin.... That said, the plastic is pretty beefy. More than sturdy enough for the task. The hook is excellent. It has a long stem with a friction plastic nib that prevents all but intentional unhooking. Its coated nicely so its quiet and wont wear the ring on ur sax like metal on metal does.I think it contributes to better tone for me......I know, I know, sounds fishy. But seriously, the sax is so steadily at the "correct" height and angle that I've found it easier to be consistent. My problem was that gradually the slippage would bend me so far forward that if I didn't have time to adjust before a low passage I found myself REALLY working to keep the low notes solid. No more, this strap slips not at all (arguably because I'm at the end of the reach...but just the fact that you could adjust the cord for YOUR end-of-reach on your main axe helps)One of the odd benefits is when I'm putting a reed on with the mouthpiece on the sax & the sax on the strap. The angle is SO much better for seeing the placement of the reed before tightening ur lig. Odd but cool.I can imagine some dyed-in-the-wool players might not be able to exactly replicate their neckstrap angle and so not like it, but I found it to be a Godsend.

I used to experience cervical pain so severe after playing that I would some times be bedridden for two days. I looked for answers and found this device. Initially, I wrote a scathing review after using the product for two days because I experienced severe thoracic pain. However, I believe this was due to my traps getting a work out from my back supporting the sax. After consistently using the device, all pain disappeared and I am healed of the problem in my neck!! I can now play upwards of 6 hours and still feel nothing. I am no longer limited I’m playing time by my neck, but by my mouth which wears out after about 5-6 hours. An excellent device. Get your kids on it now so they never develop problems. I had little problem with it falling off and losing my sax; in just not dumb about it and always hold the instrument.

Wow - this is simply genius. I've tried neck straps, harnesses - nothing comes close to this in terms of comfort and functionality. Straps have always left me feeling pinched and constricted. A harness, even though more comfortable than a strap involves getting into and out of the contraption and always seems a bit dorky to me. This device is amazing - it took me probably 5 minutes to get it all adjusted. You need to bend the arms to fit the contours of your shoulders and be sure it contacts the back of your body. Then adjust the front support bar that contacts your diaphragm area, lastly the length of the cord with the attachment hook. After that it is just a matter of slipping the device over your shoulders, click the arms into place (I think some users do not realize the arms must click into a soft locked position - this keeps the unit stable. If you do not click the arms into place the harness can definitely sway on you) and you have an exceptionally stable and comfortable sax support. After wearing this around for a while I literally forgot I even had it on. Plus it is so low profile it looks much more like a strap on your neck than a harness. I could not possibly be happier and for myself will never use anything else.

I am a (very) new player on the tenor sax. I didn't like the strap that came with my rented instrument, so I got a neotech neoprene strap that is much better, but I found that it still put strain on my neck and was becoming uncomfortable. I saw this and thought it worth a try. Right away I found it took the strain off my neck. Properly adjusted, the pad on the bottom is not a problem and as another reviewer noted, helps remind you to engage your core and breathe with your diaghram. I can see where, if you are a very large/tall person (or very small, it may not work well for you but I think most average sized people should be able to adjust it to a good fit. I was able to bend over from a seated position to pick up something from the floor without it "flopping around", but it did need a very slight readjustment after straightening back up. The only real problem I've found is that it does not fit in my tenor case, so I can see that it ouldnt fit in an alto case either giving you an extra thing to carry and possibly lose. It does come with a bag with a drawstring, so maybe something rigged up with that to sling it around your neck or something. So far, it seems a well made product and I'd recommend it but I'll have to use it some more to find other shortcomings.
