We use four of these outdoors for smaller concerts with tripod mounts and subwoofers, and the monitor series with 12" speakers and the same horn based tweeters are easy on the ears for the stage. As a system these are simple to keep from feedback and excellent sounding onstage AND as backup for using as mains in difficult multi-room venues.This level of lower priced JBL speakers are still top quality speakers as long as they are used with the proper equipment and not pushed ridiculously over their limits. When used with 250-500 watt solid state or digital amplifiers they can perform with the best systems out there for small rooms and porches, and are perfect as heck for stage monitors throughout.When used properly they can cover a full small room or a large stage as a multimix monitor system if not overamplified. Keep the rated power within their limits and they will literally last for decades~!!!You can also use them on the roof on parking lot extensions for overflow situations where the artist can come outside and treat the crowd on overflow nights. Incredible performance for a small amount of money compared to MUCH more expensive speaker cabinets, they have that JBL sound. Also, the cheaper copies are absolutely NO MATCH on sonics.These are so much tighter and cleaner and last longer - and you can push them to MUCH HIGHER LEVELS than the copycats. Those cheaper speakers will break up when pushed... these will NOT. Good workhorse speakers for small jazz bands, acoustic acts, singer songwriters, and even larger professional artists in small venues. These are pure JBL professional speakers of the highest degree.

I've had these speakers before and needed a new pair. Came in good and solid packaging and were beautufil out of the box. Sound great. I bought some covers for them as well.

These speakers sound great. One thing about JBL is that you are going to get a full, chesty, well-balanced sound from their speakers. When you shop the major manufacturers, price is no issue, inexpensive and up, in general you will get great products. MDF/HDF and carpet is the way to go for less resonance and sound from the box itself. I'll always buy passive with wood and carpet.

After using these speakers the top horn speakers inside the cabinets developed a loud rattle. Nothing was loose. This rattle destroys the sound quality.
