Very Good Grinder for a small shop. Well built and out of the box very smooth running with no real vibration. Mounted on a medium sized cast iron stand and never moves or tried to walk off the spot when tested. Cast iron tool rests are a little small but since this is not an industrial grinder they are adequate for normal shop use. Will be attached to floor for actual use. Ordered from Amazon warehouse deals for some savings and came poorly repackaged but completely intact with all the parts. I have very little trouble with UPS and they did well with this very heavy item flopping around in a large carton. Although this item is only slightly more complex than an anvil, i really appreciate that the instructions/parts list were in two small books, one in English and one throw away in Spanish. i often refuse to even look at an item that has packaging or documentation in so many multiple languages you can barely tell what it is. This alone makes it a five star.

I ordered two based on other reviews and the sale price that was offered. My goal was to replace my current grinders with ones that had a dust collection port. They arrived packed well in a box with thick styrofoam inserts. The eye shields and tool rests had to be assembled. The tool rests are heavy cast pieces, much better than some of the sheet steel ones on some grinders. Out of the box they ran smooth and much quieter than expected. When tested they seem powerfull and seem to hold their power well when put to the test. The dust collection ports and stone guard are a nice heavy cast pieces. They should work well with my dust collector. Overall I avery happy with the quality and operation of this grinder.

We switched one of our old Harbor Freight specials at the shop for this one. I was skeptical that it would be that much better, but this is a serious grinder. The wheels don't wobble, it's powerful as can be, and it's silent compared to all of our other grinders. The price is hefty, but will worth it if you are using it daily. We will be switching out all of our grinders for Jets in the coming months.Update 9/14We ordered another a month ago and it is working perfectly in our shop. They’re pricey, but we would happily pay double considering the time it’s saved us compared to cheap models.

Like so many other people, I found much of metal and wood working equipment made today is not made as good as it was years ago. I have several bench grinders in my shop, a 6", 8" and 10". And I have been using them daily for many years. When my 8" stop working, I replaced it with one of the major brands and much to my disappointment it malfunctioned right out of the box. So I returned it. I was looking for a bench grinder around the $400 range. After more research, I ended up buying the Jet. For the most part this grinder got good reviews. However some reviews reflected "they just don't make them like they used to." When turned it on for the first time, one of the wheel had a wobble. After trying to fix it, I ended up replacing the bad wheel. I guess I should be thankful it was just a bad wheel and not something else like a bad shaft. I attached some after market items on the grinder and it's working well. I use it almost every day. It's early-on but I think it's going to be real good grinder. If not for the bad wheel, that should have been seen by the manufacturer, I would have rated it 5 stars.

This Jet is so far ahead of the cheaper grinders, there is no comparison. Zero vibration, and lots of power. Very happy with this tool.

This is the best built grinder I've ever seen. I'm a mechanic, and have worked in many shops. This is very well made. The tool rest are 3/8" thick machined parts. The stone guards are cast iron. Most grinders come with cheap stones that have to be replaced right away. These are pretty nice. One has a slight wobble. This is an expensive tool. But quality comes at a premium. I am very pleased. I am completely done with cheap products. Buy nice, or buy twice!

This grinder is a beast. It chews thru just about anything. Nothing slows it down. Starts immediately and comes to full speed within 1 second. Very quiet, practically no vibrations. A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. I have few tools from JET and they all are excellent in quality and durability.

The ball bearing shaft runs very quiet and there is no wobble in the stone wheels. Very good buy for the money.
