Excellent jointer - once you have it dialed in, cuts like butter. Took me a bit to setup, much like any precision tool. Delivery process was easy.

Now that I have finished setting up my JWJ-8HH helical head jointer, I could not be more satisfied with the delivery process's convenience or the jointer's performance. This jointer is the same price no matter where you purchase it; however, Amazon's free delivery saves you from $200-$250 in delivery costs. Before purchasing this model, I considered buying the Grizzly G0858 parallelogram jointer, but you pay between $250-$300 for shipping. They tack the shipping up front on Amazon; therefore, the Grizzly, at the time of this review, costs $2,684.99. Also, when I contacted Grizzly, they would not deliver directly to my address because I live on a cul-de-sac. Renting a truck to pick it up at a local warehouse would have been highly inconvenient. This being said, I went with the Jet.The delivery driver was very accommodating. He helped me roll the jointer top and base into my garage and waited until I opened the crate to inspect its condition. The jointer came very well packaged in plywood crates. There were a few minor scratches/blemishes on the bottom of the jointer base, but everything was in almost perfect condition.The outfeed table was slightly low, but adjusting it was easy. I used a Woodpeckers precision straight edge to calibrate it. The jointer fence was perfectly square from the factory. I ran a few tests on a thick piece of poplar stock, and the jointed edge was perfectly flat and smooth, as verified with my Woodpeckers precision straight edge.I purchased the jointer base wheels on Amazon for $53. After adding 3/4-inch plywood, the jointer rolls effortlessly to wherever I need it in my garage.I read elsewhere that some complained that the jointer fence was not tall enough. I do not find this to be the case. It seems plenty high.If you are looking for an 8-inch jointer with a helical head, I highly recommend this jointer.

Seems like a solid tool but I’ve yet to be able to tune it to acceptable tolerance. Came very out of wack and no clear instruction on how to tune. Disappointing spending this much on a tool and having to spend this much time and effort into trying to get it to work properly. Beyond just the tuning(a tough task with any jointer) the scale on depth of cut is not even in the ballpark of accurate, the adjustment wheels don’t turn freely(takes both hands) and all adjustments I try to make to tune jointer don’t seem to do anything. Will not touch jet for any future tool purchases due to the headache this machine has been. 3 months now and I’m still using jigs to flatten wood

The helical head was such a good upgrade for me compared to my 8" Delta with straight blades. Jet wires their planer but doesn't wire this jointer so that an inconvenience for the buyer. If you take the fence off, two people can easily lift the bed into place. The jointer is a little louder than I expected. I'm very pleased with this upgrade.

I just received this and so far I’m impressed. I had it set up in 30 minutes and cutter heads and outfeed table aligned in minutes. My first project on it complete.... It’s quiet and leaves a smooth service requiring virtually no sanding. I’m looking forward to receiving my Jet planner now.

This jointer is great. Easy to assemble, planes boards flat and smooth.4 stars, Amazon canceled my order. I had to reset my account and re-order. I ended up with two universal bases. Now I have to go through the trouble of sending one back.UPDATE:This jointer planes great. Planes brittle ash smooth without tear out. The fence... not so great. It works, it just seems flimsy. Once you get it dialed in, don't bump it!Overall, I am happy. I would consider spending the extra couple hundred on the Powermatic, assuming they don't use the same fence as jet.
