This is my first French-style rolling pin (after exclusively using the standard-style ones with handles) and it really does make a difference, especially when it comes to working with thinner/softer doughs like pie crust. The shape of this pin makes it easy to roll with, and I feel like I have much more control when I use it compared to the standard ones. It's also very big - so big that it doesn't fit in my standard-sized pullout kitchen drawer, which is fine, the size makes it more useful as it's able to cover the entirety of my cutting board. Despite being a very large rolling pin, it isn't too heavy, which for me is a plus. I also haven't noticed any issues with doughs getting stuck to it, thankfully. It looks really beautiful, with a natural wood design. I did rub mine with mineral oil after receiving/washing it, which you should do with all wooden cutting boards/cutlery/etc from time to time, and that made it look even nicer (it slightly darkened the color). I saw a few reviews where people noted that their rolling pins came with cuts/other defects, but thankfully I didn't have any of those issues. With that all being said, this is an extremely useful and premium-feeling kitchen tool and it's really worth it, especially if you work with doughs a lot.

Great rolling pin for pasta, pastries, or dough of any sort. Unfinished maple is actually the most ideal surface for working with doughs so this rolling pin is fantastic. No need to do anything when you get it. I had no issues with the sticker (which is only a bit larger than a quarter) . Don’t ever typically leave reviews but I make bread and pasta on a weekly basis and almost skipped this pin because of some reviews. Just want to confirm that this pin is rock solid and very high quality for anyone who might be in the same position I was in :)

Easy to use.Slight learning curve due to it not being straight like I was used to.

JK Adams makes high quality wooden kitchen and home products at their factory in Dorset, Vermont. That alone is a good reason to buy this rolling pin, as it supports a small MUSA business. The wood is smooth and nicely shaped and does the job it's intended to do. As far as the comments expressing frustration about the label being hard to remove, I was a bit put off by those and briefly hesitated buying this product. If I didn't already own several JKA items, I may have chosen something else. However, I had no trouble at all removing the label. I don't know if they made a change in the adhesive, or what, but mine peeled off very easily. No broken nails from working at it and no residue left on the wood.

I've admired the shape of this type of rolling pin for a while and finally decided to give it a try after having issues rolling out my doughs. It sounds a little silly, but I was really surprised by how much easier it made flattening out my dough for dumplings. I'm sure any type of rolling pin would do the same, but this felt like a natural jump from having always only using my hands. It's light but sturdy, and there are no handles to have to worry about in regards to them possibly breaking off. I would have preferred it be a darker wood, but I chose this one because it was cheap and well-received, so I can't judge it negatively for its color. We shouldn't judge anything negatively simply for its color.

I saw this rolling pin recommended by Wirecutter, and, not having mastered the art of tossing pizza dough, decided to try it out. On my first attempt, I was able roll out the dough for a 16" pan that was large enough, round enough, and of a more uniform thickness than I was able to achieve by tossing or using a standard rolling pin with handles. As others have mentioned, removing the label stuck to the pin took more time and effort than it should have, but not enough to subtract a star from the rating.

Yes, it is great. Made of superb material. Well designed. But really not worth the money as there are similar products that cost much less.

Solid rolling pin and size is just nice...could be a 5 star if label was not pasted on the rolling pin itself, but eventually I removed it without leaving any residue slowly.
