How does it work?

During the process of venting crankcase pressure back through your intake track, large amounts of oil, in the form of vapors can gather/accumulate in your intake tube, intake manifold runners and even dilute your gas, lowering its octane level. This happens in all engines and is even worse with forced inducted vehicles (supercharged and turbocharged) as crankcase pressures are increased. To combat this, we have developed an oil separator of our own design. Milled from solid billet aluminum this is a rock solid piece. It has a knurled tank base for easy removal to drain the spent oil and an O-ring seal to prevent any leaks. This product is NOT CARB (California Air Resource Board) Exempt. It is not for legal sale or use in the state of CA or any other states adopting CA emission standards and require a CA Executive Order (EO) number.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do I need to check my oil separator?

Most applications average about an ounce of oil every thousand miles. However, there are many factors in collection rate as every single engine is different. Factors such as driving style, climate, engine condition, oil level all vary and effect collection rate. People in cold climates will have to check their oil separator more often in the winter months due to condensation build up occurring in the oil separator itself. In these months, the air entering the can is significantly hotter than the ambient air temp. This results in condensation build up (think hot shower in a cold bathroom). We recommend everyone to check their oil separator 500-1000 miles after initial installation to get an idea of how often it needs to be serviced. The can holds 3 ounces without the optional extension.

Do I need an oil separator on both sides of my engine?

In most cases you only need an oil separator on the PCV side (dirty side) of the engine. This is the side that is under vacuum/suction most of the time while the vehicle is running and driving. The clean side typically is only used for venting when the PCV valve is closed which is under moderate to high acceleration. Some turbo vehicles can see oil in the clean side, such as EcoBoost F-150’s when they are exposed to frequent heavy towing conditions. On non-turbo applications anything short of road course racing you typically will not see a drop of collection out of the clean side.

What do I do with the oil that collects in the oil separator, can I put it back in the engine?

No! Dispose of this nasty oil that is mixed with fuel, water and everything else where you would dispose of your oil change oil. Many auto parts stores will take your old oil for free of charge.

2014 Chevrolet silverado. At 97k miles I threw this on. Drove for two weeks, checked the container to see how much would be in it, it was halfway full! There is a reason these trucks take 8 quarts of oil I guess. Half of it ends up in your pcv system and burned away. They say check every oil change but if I wat that long it'd overfill and who knows what kind of nightmare that spawn. Obviously every vehicle is different. Be sure to keep an eye on it in the beginning so you can get an idea how often it needs to be emptied. All around, high quality materials. Simple installation. From what I've read, these things "bulletproof" your engine, so we'll see!Don't buy a cheap one, buy this one.

Works as it should, has saved oil from going back into the intake. Bought in fall of 2023, july 2024 and working as it should. Have emptied it maybe 3 times about 1/3 full or less with some water from condensation in winter. Would recomend and would buy again

Works as it should and the fit/finish was awesome. 2017 6.2 Silverado. Only complaint is now I get a hot oil smell in the cabin when I'm at a red light or stopped. Thinking about moving it on the firewall to a different spot. But I still give it a 10/10

This was an easy install. After a 4K mile road trip almost a 1/2 cup of vapor oil removed, very impressed.

For the price, the canister should have been 2 inches longer. You have to buy the extension. Otherwise you're gonna be emptying it every 5 to 7days. So in my opinion. It's not worth the price. So you need to add the canister addition. Then it's ok but they should've made it that long in the first place. It is good quality.

With the multiple videos online I added this in about 15 mins. I'll give it 5,000 miles or so (usually my oil change interval) to see the results but I have zero concerns long-term. Extremely well made and well packed too!

Must have for any vehicle with direct injection such as my 2017 Silverado. It is the easiest install available as it has incorporated the factory fittings. Catches incredible amounts of oil that otherwise would become deposits on your intake valves and cause rough idle.

purchased this catch can after reading on forums of others doing the same with good results. Definitely glad I did because it catches a lot of oil. After about 500km the can is about half full. Very impressed with the build quality, hoses are connectors are similar to oem style. worth the money would recommend!UPDATE: Can is too small it fills up very quick and just ends up defeating the purpose of the can. Will be purchasing the can extender. Wish can was bigger.
