First off, let me say, that ive been waiting a really long time for someone to put a GM HEI on top of Chrysler and Ford distributors. I've actually contemplated trying the conversion myself, but Pertronix had a good idea at the time also. This thing is freakin AWESOME, it's literally plug and play with the exception of a 12v switched source (if you don't already have it).Bring your motor to TDC on the compression stroke, with both valves up and seated, on your number 1 cylinder... this is your sure fire way of knowing...trying to guess compression stroke with your thumb, on a 4 stroke engine is still 50/50 on being 180 out. Sure that's no biggie unless you like hassling with wires or an oil pump shaft.READ CAREFUL PART: Ok, so..if you have one of these Ford motors 1958–1976 FE V8—medium-block Generation 1.. (332/352/360/361/390)Your oil pump shaft may not seat all the way...it might seem like it seated, and then it may slide down just an 1/8 to 1/4" and become unseated..this will result in loss of oil pressure, and blown motors. In my case, the shaft would not slide down far enough to seat in the oil pump, due to suction from the fluids, on the shaft, inside the distributor. It was pushed all the way inside the distributor and would not "fall" to seat properly...i attempted 5 times before realizing that I just needed a longer shaft..."giggity"My advice to you, is locate the proper length shaft, or aftermarket Moroso or equal...in my case, a used an Allen wrench and fabricated it to lengthen the shaft...blah blah blah...Back to the awesome part: I lined everything up TDC, and it fired twice as fast as my autolite stock distributor, and the unit I set up with Ignitor 1, and the unit with Ignitor 2.It gave me a perfect idle, and a very nice smooth rev, and response is amazing. It fires so good that it immediately starting burning wasted fuel and carbon that were residual from the weak set up.It's big and bulky and I love that, i always have about GM HEI's. Although it fit perfectly inside my '59 Squarebird, i needed the offset base air cleaner. Its a 65k coil, so you can (if you want) gap plugs bigger, in my case I capped to .050. It's the amount of air and combustible space between the gap that matters, and if you want bigger, do it.You'll need HEI wires also...the distributor ends are what is needed. I opted for the MSD Street wires and crimped the HEI ends on. They fit very nice.Ok I hope this helped someone decide what and what not to do here...my honest opinion...you can't go wrong here. A little common sense and enginuity and you've got an awesome updated ignition that has parts available everywhere. This company is doing Hot Rodders, truck lovers and Farmers a bunch of favors...I WILL buy again, and I will tell my buddies about it.The oil pump shaft issue is not the companies fault, and shouldn't be given anything less then 5 stars, for a 5 star idea, and product.I'm not saying they shouldn't warn a brotha tho...maybe this will bring a side note to the table..hint hint..

Very easy to install. Have been running in it on my 73 F100 for 2yrs and it's working great. Buy the pigtail for it. I had to mount a smaller aftermarket air cleaner because of the size of this distributor.

This is a solid, well designed piece. Fit no problem in my Ford F100. 20 min and I'm running. When I need another distributor I'm buying this brand again

Put this on my 1975 ford 390 so i could have eletronic ignition for fuel injection. I have put about 3k miles on it and it seems to be doing great.

Got here way faster than I thought, which is a huge plus in my book. Packaging was good...I'll write another review after it's installed - hoping that process goes as smoothly as the shipping did! Update: So far, so good...more power, wayyyy hotter spark (bypass the ballast resistor or things will start smoking) - this thing is great!
