I took a chance on this very inexpensive level and was super impressed when it arrived. As some have described, it arrived in a box with no padding -- rattling around in the box. But it seems to be a tough tool, well made and easy to use and read. This is the first level I've had with a window on the top side, and I was surprised how useful that is. It makes it easier to read when looking down at it. It really seems to be a good, solid level and well made. I can't believe it's so inexpensive. It's a great value!!

This is a very solid level. Have an 8" level, a 24" level and a 48" level - but I needed something in between the 2 foot and 4 foot ones. This one fits the bill. Sturdy aluminum, solid I-beam, black (seems to make reading the 'bubble' easier). All at a decent price.

Purchased this to level blocks on a retaining wall I’m building in my yard, works well. It’s very sturdy and doesn’t feel cheap at all. It’s taken a beating during my project that’s for certain.. and it’s still going strong. Perfect “at home” level in my opinion. If you’re a professional contractor I’m sure there’s a better level for you with bells and whistles that can withstand an elephant sitting on it.. but for the average joe this is what you need.

I bought this primarily for a cutting guide for my circular saw. The I-beam doesn't have machined edges but it is really straight. Any error in my cuts won't be from the level.I checked its level viles for accuracy and couldn't find any errors in any direction. I was expecting some error in at least one since it was so cheap, but I was happily surprised. The protective end caps are just plastic not rubber like a typical box beam, and box beams tend to be stronger. Also the level is 96" including the end caps. I was expecting the I-beam to be about 1/4" longer but that isn't a deal breaker. Overall I am pleased. If I take care of it, I expect it will last me a lifetime.

A good level for the price, and made in USA. Mine is perfectly straight and accurate, so it was made well and suffered no shipping damage. It is pretty lightweight, so it might bend or kink if dropped harshly. But then again lightweight is a good thing also if you work with it all day long. I would like to say that the edges in the hand grip cutouts are very sharp and might cut someone if they are not careful. I deburred mine and then finished the edges with fine sandpaper, so it is smooth now. It took about 10 minutes to do it, so no complaints. I would recommend this to a friend. Thanks for still making this in the USA!!

This Johnson level has a beautiful fit and finish to it, with high quality leveling vials. It's heavy duty and should last many years. I highly recommend this 24" I-beam Level. If it matters, I've been a high-end Home building contractor for 25years.

Most levels of this length are well over $100 in stores poising this as one of he most economical levels in its class. It is well constructed and very durable (I have dropped many things on it during a reframing project and it has held up strong). Also, most of the 96-inch levels I have seen in store only have 3 vertical/horizontal levels where this has five making it more convenient to read than other competing levels. I have other Johnson levels that I have use for years and have always been satisfied with the brand.

Great level, really nothing wrong with the manufacturing (the square cut edges and corners are sharp, could be sanded down a bit more), but my issue is more a packaging issue. The level came unwrapped, but had packing and shipping stickers and labels and warnings and tags up the wazoo. And only 2 out of the 12 or so (I lost count) peeled nicely. The rest were paper-based and ripped leaving huge jagged sections behind, in all the grooves of the level. I don't have time to sit and pick and soak and goo-gone the whole 6 feet and all 6 sides! Come on guys! Wrap it paper first then assault it with labels. Ugh.

Docking one star for poor packaging. I bought two, they arrived in a box wrapped in a piece of paper the levels were bouncing around inside. No damage though, so whatever. Not the most finesse level. The aluminium edges are not relieved, so they're pretty sharp. Not baf for the price though.
