This is an exact replacement for my 20-year-old bilge pump filter. It has been easy to remove with the quick removal type inlet and outlet port connectors. Cleaning is accomplished by unscrewing the clear plastic lid then dumping out debris and hosing out the stainless mesh filter. I chose the 20 mesh to limit the size of the trash going through my remote mounted diaphragm pump. My current filter is 10 mesh and plugs-up too easily. The old unit had to be replaced because the screw-off lid got cracked
