Love love love this awesome M-Cuisine microwave rice cooker by Joseph Joseph. I have been a fan of JJ's product design for a long time and have owned a few of their products. But this little microwave rice cooker was a curiosity buy. Saw it on Amazon and thought...This could be neat if it works. Being Chinese, cooking rice in a microwave is not a new concept. In Asia, there's plenty of single serving microwave rice packages sold in every grocery store. But when I saw this on my Amazon suggestions, I was instantly intrigued. The M-Cuisine microwave rice cooker worked perfectly. I really appreciate the attention to details with this product design. How this work:-measure the amount of rice desire for your cooking with the provided measuring cup per the cooking instruction fold out.-wash your rice with the inner black pot which also serves as a strainer so you can wash your rice and then put it back into the main pot. The inner strainer pot also has a folding handle that folds down perfectly in place.-empty all water from the inner pot strainer. Leave the cleaned wet rice inside the inner pot.-add water (refer to the ratio of water to rice portion formula in cooking instruction)-place inner pot/strainer into the larger white pot.-place the cover over the main white pot.-place the spatula over the cover, align and twist the spatula clockwise into the open slotted area of the main pot.The spatula also helps defuse the steam from shooting upward inside the microwave. The hole for the steam on the cover is aligned directly under the spatula which helps redirect the pressure of the steam sideways (horizontally vs vertically). This helps keeps the inside of the microwave nice and clean...Genius!-place pot inside microwave.-microwave cooking time for 1 cup of rice is 15 mins. Please note, the pot is extremely hot after cooking so make sure to use proper heat-resistant oven mitts. Also, the steam during the cooking process will create a very thin white film over your cover (looks a bit like a thin layer of dried white elmers glue on your hand). At first glance, it will look like your cover has been ruined from the heat of the microwave. But don't panic. This is normal thanks to the genius placement of the spatula. You can easily clean this off with a damp towel and the cover will look beautiful again. This is a fantastic and must have cookware for any kitchen. You don't really need one if you have a rice cooker, but it is so convenient to cook rice with the M-Cuisine microwave rice cooker. This really is a game changer. Everything you need is all contained into one unit. I really appreciate that.Another plus having this microwave rice cooker is you can bring this over to a friends place who doesn't have a rice cooker. With this little guy, you can have freshly cooked rice for 2-3 guests in 15 mins. Easy peasy. This really is a game changer. You don't realize you need one until you have one. Then you can't live without one.

This is probably one of my favorite kitchen appliances! Works for ramen, rice, noodles, beans and so much more without the mess of water over flowing and then things being crunchy because of that water loss. Zion is perfect and works just as well as the describe! I bring this with me every time I stay at a hotel and I've made 10 different meals out of it. Not to mention obviously making ramen and steam rice super quick and easy. If you have ADHD or any other reason for difficulty eating because of difficulty with food prep, I highly recommend this! I've made full meals in this. Steamed vegetables etc. Love love! Bought one as a gift for family and they loved also! I'm really impressed with the quality and I feel like this is going to last for years! And I absolutely love that it's dishwasher safe, because I don't like having anything that's not. I hand wash all my dishes to get the physical residue off but I really appreciate knowing that the dishwasher sanitizes everything. great for kids and teenagers so that they can make easy mess free quick snacks and meals after school or while parents are at work! Every household should have one!

I bought this on Amazon in April 2022. We use it several times a month, mostly for basmati rice. Occasionally we cook brown or other rices in it. I'm puzzled by other reviews for people that denigrate this great little cooker when they don't use it as intended. It comes with simple and clear instructions for different types of rice, and when followed it's pretty fool proof. Yes the top can be challenging to remove if you try to do so with your fingers. It's hot! Use a glove, pad, or silicone holder; it's easy and there's no burning! I have bad arthritis in my hands and I manage it just fine with a silicone holder. Yes, some foam or water can bubble a little through the holes in the top (that is one reason the holes after there!), but the same can happen with a pot on the stove while cooking rice (this cooker is not a pressure cooker so expect a little foam or water to seep out). This is just a wonderful microwave cooker that, when used as directed, will give you great cooked rice every time. It's well built and has stood the test of 2+ years' time.

Got this cooker to cook a small amount of rice for one person. The instructions have you wash the rice in the colander, then put the colander with the rice in the bottom bowl and then cook the rice with water in the colander. The rice releases a lot of starch when cooking. The starch clogs up the holes in the colander. The starch is trapped between the colander and the bottom bowl so you should not store the cooked rice in the colander. When you wash out the colander, not all the holes are clean. The rice can be cooked in the bottom bowl without the colander. The instructions would have been easier if the water measurement was in cups instead of milliliters, because the dry rice measurement is in cups. Rice came out OK. A lot of starch on the cover and the cover locking rice paddle after cooking. When cooking the maximum 2 cups of rice, some starch boils over into the microwave oven so extra cleaning is required though that may be my fault for the amount of water used. The design of the cooker is very attractive.

This works just great. We mainly use it for cooking rice, but I’m sure it has many other uses as well.
