I arranged to purchase a new kayak, and bought this rack system so I could pick it up. I mounted it on an older Thule square bar system on my SUV. It went together quick enough, and I really liked how I could easily adjust the angle of the J-style roof holder almost laying it flat so I could drive the car into my garage. All-in-all, it seemed well put together. The package also included all of the straps necessary to strap down the kayak when I picked it up. I chucked the tie down straps in the back of my SUV without a second thought.Later that week, my 4-year-old grandson was visiting and I decided it was the time to pick up the kayak at the store. This was probably not a good decision being that I had never loaded a kayak on a vehicle, I had no experience with the kayak roof rack, a four-year-old requires lots of attention, it was cold and getting colder, and soon to become dark.I got to the store, they brought out the kayak and the sellers were impressed with how the carrier quickly adjusted to the correct angle and locked in place. Next, I went to the back of the SUV and pulled out the yet to be used straps. I quickly scanned the included directions and ran tie down straps through the strap fixing clip (what a convenience). The kayak was secure in minutes, the 4-year-old was loaded into his booster seat, and we were on the road before sun set.Other than some additional wind noise, I did not even notice that the kayak was on the roof. I was relaxing and having a great time with my grandson. It is really nice to purchase a thoughtful well engineered product. Now I am considering their Load Assist Kayak Roller, and perhaps their Kayak Cart

Great product. Works well and is well designed. However, if you need to frequently remove this, there are many moving parts and pieces. I often switch out between hauling kayaks and paddleboards. The washers and nuts require time and patience. If you plan to leave this on all season - it’s a great price point for the product.

The roof rack is as durable and easy to attached as expected. However, the straps were a bit thin. I think I will use others I already own. Also, because the straps were narrow, the "special" feature on the top of the rack that is supposed to keep the strap in place when tying down the boat did not work AT ALL. In order to tie the boat without having someone on the roof holding the strap while the boat is loaded, we had to rig a wire across this "fixing clip." Also, there are NO bow and stern tie downs included with the package, even though they are in the picture provided in the product illustrations. I have my own and will use them, but the directions did not even mention that they would be recommended. This is an important safety issue and should be handled better than this.

I bought these for my 2021 Ford Escape hybrid. I'd had another set, but hated the difficulty of installing them. These were easy to put on, they fold and they are super sturdy. The problem for me isn't with the product, but having to lift my kayak up on to the top of the car.

I appreciated that the racks came together and mounted up very quickly and simply. All the bits on the bottom are rubberized or plastic, so if your roof bars flex, they won't scratch anything. They're very intuitive to use, have metal parts in all the right places, and look pretty good on the car. All of the straps have a lot of extra length, so cut/burn to what you need and I can guarantee it will fit just about any kayak/canoe/car combo.

Very tough and reliable. You can see each individual rack get fastened by 4X screw knobs. This set (Green) was the only folding J rack that had this featuren in the market last year when I searched. I bought one set for my kayak to test, then bought another set for my wife's kayak. After running for a while, bought a third kayak for my boy and settled as sandwich. Still very tight after frequent use through the whole 2021 season (2-3 times a week, May-Nov). I bought @$99 each set, and now the price is even lower. Don't know why, maybe the color or the cosmetic design is not fancy enough, but it's a rack and functional dominates.

Thankfully, this product ships with two sets of bolts of different lengths. I'm striking one star because the longer set of bolts which I was required to use do not seat smoothly into the square holes in the aluminum. I had to align them and hammer them in. The shorter 2.25" bolts that I tried first settled right in just fine.

I bought 2 of these over the winter. I set those up on 2 super struts. I've put over 500 miles on them so far and everything is intact. Our kayaks are over 100 pounds. The only thing is if you are to carry fishing kayaks, the straps that come with the J bars are too short. Other than that, great product. I'm on numerous fishing forums, and I recommend it to everyone who is looking for extra tough J bars. Look me up on Youtube under Experimental Fishing for a better view of my setup :)

This rack is well built and easy to install. Its components are robust and the flexibility in adjusting it's angle on the vertical is a great feature. Therein however lies its weakness. There is no way this rack can accommodate my two 10' Kayaks at an angle, hull to hull, and nest properly in their respective sides. I had to accommodate the second boat by having it sit flat on the roof rack resting against the second set of cradles. (These can me slid independantly of the main rack body). This worked out well with a second boat. It did lead me to wonder why the twin feature. I could have purchased a single rack and just affixed the second boat directly and securely to the roof rack. I suppose this rack might work differently with other vessels however in my instance it doesn't.

Don't buy if you have 2 deep kayaks (like one of those Pelicans). One of the sides is useless, way too narrow. One side is wider than the other. Unfortunately the narrow one is also the one that folds so I can't just buy a second rack from somewhere else and make two separate. Very poorly designed in that sense. Otherwise material seems just good enough and solid (folding arm is good).
