While the body seems solid, it has features often associated with cheap ukes - it has a hard time staying in tune and the neck action is not particularly good. Meant to be positioned as a "learning tool" for students, as a practiced player I can say that the challenge of depressing the strings - requiring quite some effort - will be a dissuasive factor in getting them to learn it. Better to get a more expensive and refined uke - and then sell it if the student doesn't continue. But at least the student will have a reasonable chance of getting notes and chords out of it, so they might hang with it...
