Love my saddle stool as I spend a lot of time working in my studio. This base saved it, as the original base was made of a weak cast metal. Replacing the base took a bit of effort, but was a much more affordable than buying a new stool.

This well-made base is strong. I have had a shop stool for several years that I got at Harbor Freight that is really comfortable although it never rolled very well. The seat and support cylinder are pretty good but the casters were cheap and the base of the stool was typical old version HF with a simple, completely inadequate welded bead to hold the casters in place. Predictably they began to fail.This new base is very well made with properly formed sockets for holding the casters. Many bases like this are designed for office chairs but this one with a diameter of 20.5†was perfect for this application.The casters I used were these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C58RD9K6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1This base and the new casters together cost about 2/3 as much as the original stool. But combined with the rest of the HF original I now have a very good shop stool. The new base and casters should hold up well; hope the rest of it does as well.

Changed a bar stool to a wheeled stool. No hassle conversion. You will need to get a set of wheels.

Nice quality. Feels sturdy. Easy to swap out parts and wheels. There were a few metal burrs on one edge, so handle with care. They sanded off very easily.

One of the the office chairs in our home was very inexpensive, but we got it (and keep it) because it's very comfortable. As with all budget items, however, cost cutting must happen somewhere, and in the case of our chair, it happened with the base. This replacement base from Kaleurrier provided an easy upgrade that not only looks nicer, but functions better, too.First things first: Pay attention to the size of the base -- with its 20.5" diameter, it is smaller than (and not the best replacement for) bases on larger office chairs. It is therefore better suited for use with stools, or smaller chairs originally equipped with similarly-sized bases.What I Like- One-piece aluminium construction (better than the 6-piece welded original base made from bent iron tubing).- Brushed finish (nicer, aesthetically, than the dated-looking chrome finish of the original base).- Properly-formed caster sockets that fit caster stems snugly and do not prouduce noise (the sockets of the original base allowed too much play with the caster stems, and as a result, the chair rattled loudly any time it was rolled).- Lighter than the factory base. While it's hardly ever necessary to pick up an office chair, the weight difference can be felt even when rolling the chair. The lighter weight does not make the chair feel unstable.What Could be Better- A few rough areas were left over from manufacturing on the underside of the base. These are not a problem aesthetically or structurally, but could scrape skin during installation. I removed them with a Dremel tool in a matter of seconds. But truth be told, this isn't a big enough issue for me to dock a star.Overall, I think Kaleurrier is offering a base that would make a worthy replacement for a damaged base on an expensive chair/stool, or a quick upgrade for a budget chair that you happen to love.

I wasn't paying close enough attention to the description, but that's no fault of this product. It's more suitable for a stool or something smaller than your traditional office chair.The construction is much nicer than what comes with most desk chairs/stools. It's a solid chunk of cast aluminum and looks much nicer too.
