The?kalimba?is a traditional instrument that originated from Africa thousands of years ago. It is also called ?thumb piano?or kalimbira. This diminutive musical instrument is lightweight and portable, making it easy to take along anywhere.
Although it has a long history, the sound is vibrant and modern,and almost all kinds of songs can be played with 17 keys which contain 3 octaves of pitch.
How to play?
The perfect instrument for someone who is "all thumbs!"
Every Thumb Piano is tuned and tested before shipped. The tone is the same as a piano: International C tune. It can be converted to key B using the tuning hammer ( Making tines longer will lower the pitch, and making them shorter will make the pitch higher.)
It’s easy to play, simply hold the kalimba in your hands and pluck the tines with alternating thumbs,then you can enjoy the pleasant and wonderful music melody.

These thumb harps were the perfect gift for our musically inclined granddaughters. They continue to learn how to play songs and even make up their own!!

Love the cute design of this kalimba and how many accessories came along with it. The kalimba sounds great but unfortunately mine came with 2 dead tines and 1 buzzing tine. Most tines were tuned out the box but still required some fine tuning. Unfortunately mine also had a chip on the bottom left corner but doesn't affect the kalimba other than aesthetic.
