I purchased this to replace the completely useless pitot tube speedometer that came on my 2020 Lowe pontoon boat. The good:I tested the unit on my power supply at home. In the middle of the ground floor on a two story house it acquired a signal in a few minutes. After the first fix it picked up nearly instantly. The only setup required is one button on the back to select KPH, MPH or KNOTS.Very easy to install (switched12v power, ground and screw on the GPS antenna). I grabbed power from the trim gage mounted right next to the speedometer. I was able to mount the GPS antenna to one of the screws that hold the instrument bezel to the console. The unit looks great and matches the other instruments well.Inside the metal building where I store the boat it grabbed a fix instantly, so you should have no issues on the open water. The voltmeter appears to be more accurate than the volt display on my Garmin Fish Finder. The not so good:The display is a bit hard to read if the sun is behind you and an auto dimmer on the screen would be nice after dark.Overall, a great unit for the price that gives me a usable speedometer on my boat.Another review stated that the compass rose did not move. The North points up, there is a colored block that highlights the direction. Pointing a GPS will not change the direction displayed unless your unit has a magnetic compass module. The direction on a GPS is derived from comparing your last position and your current position. You must move to get a direction display.NOTE: If you have a Pitot Tube speedometer please plug the tube or route it back out the hole in the floor of the console. I forgot to do this and it dumped water in my console.

Older boat, triton 175, 2000. Old Speedo was not working. Previous owner had removed tubing, then we switched motors as well. This was very easy to hook up and seems to work great. It does take a few more pmts to get signal but after that it’s awesome. Looks good, I’m not having any visibility issues and like the functionality as well. I have already ordered a second one for my bigger ski boat since it gets plugged in the lower unit constantly in the river we go boating in, primarily going in and out of marinas, when the water is low the lower unit hits mud frequently.

The installation was a bit involved and you have to pay close attention to the instructions. I gave it four stars because it was erratic. Sometimes it would work and other times nothing. I found out that where and how the antenna was mounted was very important. What I did was mount the antenna to the upper portion of the window on my T Bucket and this caused the antenna to be in a vertical position. The software in the GPS only gives it one time to access a signal. If this doesn't happen in the allotted time frame, it fails and you get no reading. It does not continue to acquire a signal. What I had to do was bend the antenna mounting bracket so the antenna was in a horizontal position. It acquires the signal every time now.

If you wired this up in your vehicle, started it up n drove .9tenths of a mile, pulled over n shut your rig off, then started it back up and took off, you’d have put zero miles on the odometer. So, every trip you take it doesn’t save the tenths to your trip. If your using it for long hauls and infrequently shutting it off, it won’t matter much, but if you plan on a lot of cycles per fuel tank, this will cause you’re mileage to be off. Other than that, I love it and decided to still give it a 5 star review as it’s super simple to instal and the speed seems to be right on and I’ve seen ZERO instances of it not instantly connecting and maintaining signal while in use. Aside from its first startup when it did take about 30 seconds to connect to the satellites when first installed. I mounted mine in some dead space in the middle dash on our camper so my wife can keep track of our miles as the factory odometer and fuel gauge in our rig is inop. This was a quick, easy, and inexpensive way for us to ensure we didn’t run out of fuel!

Install looks good and it functions as described. The image is what you can expect on a bright clear day. My phone is about a foot away in the image. It is highly reflective and not too bright. All I really need is the GPS knot meter which is the largest numbers on the screen. The GPS antenna was plenty long to exit thru aft air scoop so I'm happy with that. I was also able to use my 3 5/8" hole saw, and it fits well. They could probably fix the glare/dim problem with a deeper bezel.
