This flexible heater is designed for use on oil or transmission pans, but it can also be used to heat hydraulic and water tanks. The size of the pan or tank that this heater should be used on is determined by the wattage of the heater. This 150-watt heating pad gives you the best results with oil pans that are up to 8 quarts and tanks that are up to 10 gallons in size

I ride my motorcycle year-round in Illinois. When it gets below 20 degrees the bike doesn't want to start because the oil is thick and cold.I installed this and it works great. I only run it for 2 hours because it gets so hot.

Used Permatex RTV Ultra Red to seal up the edges of the heater as per the instructions - which coincidentally has the same coloration as the pad itself. I was a little confused seeing some of the user photos on here where the pad looked like it had melted!Speaking of, it's probably a very poor idea to plug this heater in without a heatsink IE your engine block. Don't do that.

The cord could be a bit longer. It is just the right size for the oil pan on my drive to work junker.Getting ready for that -20 like we had last year.

The installation instructions dictate that you should sand off all the paint and primer to bare metal before installing the heater. Maybe that's OK if you have an aluminum oil pan, but that's insane for a steel pan. This is a sure fire way to have a major corrosion issue in a few years; especially if you live somewhere that salts roads....like where it gets cold...which happens to be the same places you'd need a pan heater. Horrible advice.
