First of all - this is a big overpriced. Keep in mind you are paying for the real wood - but it has some staining imperfections that don’t match the base finish. Obviously the craftsmanship is not of a high end hand assembled clock. This is really worth about $80 in my opinion but with free shipping, yeah is priced not bad. Easy to assemble - and is really nice. Weird that it takes two D batteries though. The coukoo chimes every hour and works nicely - and it starts off with a gurgling stream noise followed by a bird call (and an echo) which is a bit confusing…I guess it is trying to mimic an reverse bellows sound a bit. I do like the modernisation of a mechanical clock that are hard to maintain and expensive. But it takes a nostalgic item and simplifies it at the expense of hand craftsmanship. It’s not heavy and installs in the wall nicely. It’s bigger than I expected - but it definitely has wall presence being bigger. Seems to keep time nicely - and I love the fact it Silenus itself at night - light activated. Also has two settings for volume and even off ….the worst thing - which I miss- is the pendulum doesn’t “tick†and there is no setting for it. I always liked that aspect of a mechanical pendulum that made this noise. Still I like it ! It’s nice hearing the bird call every hour.

Purchased as a gift for my daughter. She loves these types of clocks. When she opened the box she cried. Quality and workmanship are exquisite!
