This part was the correct replacement for my pool. I received two quotes to remove, replace, and install this pool flot:($200.00) I decided to do it myself, very easy and inexpensive. I do recommend this item.

Love this valve. The last one I put in lasted for over 10 years in our super hard water.

Easy to install and worked like a charm at first, but after a month I noticed that the level of my pool was higher than what I'd originally set the float to maintain. I thought maybe I hadn't tightened the wing nut enough and that the float had slipped to a different position, so I readjusted it and everything was fine once again. Six weeks later, after returning from a 10-day trip, I noticed that the pool level was once again higher than it should be. Looking in the auto-fill chamber, I saw that the float was completely submerged. The small amount of rain that had occurred while I was gone could not explain this. The only thing I could figure was that the float had lost buoyancy and allowed the pool to overfill, and that's exactly what I found when I removed it - it was a third full of water! That explains why I had to make the initial adjustment. The leak is minuscule, and it's at the end of the float opposite where the adjustment arm screws into the float - not what I expected. It turns out the leak is where the hole for the mold injector was sealed, or not sealed, as in my case. I can probably fix this by draining the water and smearing some adhesive product over the end of the float, but I hope the manufacturer, or should I say outsourcer, reads this review and corrects this defect for the benefit of future customers. I have to believe that my experience is a fluke and that most folks won't get a float that's a lemon.

Exact replacement for our valve that was leaking. I got a different one from the pool store but it was harder to adjust, so I ordered this one.

Doesn't come with the nut needed to attach it to your container. Threads dont match other brands so you cant just take a nut from a broken or leaking one (if you're looking to replace one you already have, like me) Nor does it come with an adapter to push a hose into. Trash

I just installed this to regulate an inground pool autofill water line. The Good:The actual installation only took a few minutes - unscrew the old float, wrap teflon tape around the new float's threads, screw it in and adjust the float position with the wingnut. The Bad:The unit I received came with a bolt and wingnut with defective threading. Right out of the package, I attempted to loosen the wingnut by hand, which I couldn't, and just assumed it was over tightened at the factory. I used pliers to loosen it. I ended up having to use the pliers to completely remove the wingnut from the bolt, since it never started to turn freely by hand. Once apart, I could feel the bolt threads were very rough so using a magnifying glass I had to file down the extra metal slag that was stuck to the bolt threads. Then, I had to use a tap to straighten out the wingnut threads, since those threads were also not smooth.Maybe I was just unlucky and got a bad one. I don't know.....Suggest the mfg stop using cheap (probably chinese made steel) hardware to save a few pennies, or get some better quality control measures in place, because the POINT of me buying this particular float switch was for the supposed ease of adjusting the float level with the large wingnut BY HAND and not having to try and get a bulky wrench down in the small round pit where the float switch lives.Jury is still out on whether the float switch shuts off the water properly since I only just installed it. After 24hrs so far so good. I'll assume for this review it will function properly, and I will update the review if it does not.
