These keys need two types of programing—one to the doors and one to the engine. I still had my keys so I just swapped out the fobs from these. A locksmith programmed them for me and they worked great. You need a computer device to program the engine lockout.

My dealer was asking for $300 plus cutting and programming fee a new key. I talked to a locksmith and he warned me about the poor quality of aftermarket keys. He said he would cut and program the OEM key for me for $100 which would bring the total cost down to $400. However, as the cost of the OEM key was too high, I decided to give this after market key a try. I am glad I did.i got the locksmith to cut both the keys for $60. They both fit perfectly in the door and the starter and worked just as well as the OEM key. For programming the immobilizer, I did it by myself. I have a XTOOL D8S OBD2 scanner. It was able to program both the keys in under 5 minutes. Total cost for two keys was $80 compared to $400 for one OEM key.

I bought these thinking that I can easily just get them cut at a Home Depot or Lowes that still have older style key cutters - NopeMy car is a 2010 Honda CrosstourThese keys are "laser cut" - which doesn't mean that are actually cut by lasers, but need a special cutting machine that first identifies the key bitting, compares the bitting based on make and year of your car .. and then makes a new key based off the code, vs simply duplicating the groves which may be worn down. These require locksmiths to cut - the local locksmith charged $30 ea. This is part of the description, but there's more.THENYou need to BOTH pair the keys transmitter AND the transceiver to the cartransmitter allows to lock and unlock remotely, You can do this with the help of Youtube.Transceiver allows the key work with the car engine - without this step, the key will turn and start the engine, but the engine will immediately stop. This is also a locksmith job ($50) and not something you can learn to do from youtube videos as it required special hardware plugging into the OBD.In the end these replacement keys worked .. but I had to spend $110 more to get them cut AND programmed.

I have a honda fit and needed a back up key. Anywhere locally wanted to charge me upward of $200 for one key. I bought these had just the key cut for about $40 (each) at battery+ and was able to program them myself with a scan tool. 2 keys for less then half the price of one! Yes please.

The batteries were dead in both key fobs. Had to buy and replace them to be able to cut and program to the vehicle.

Got these for my 2010 Honda Crosstour. Had the locksmith cut the keys and program them to the car as it does not support on-board programming. After doing it twice, he got one to work for the car on the third try. He tried 2 more times with the other one and it would not work. Luckily for me he didn't charge me for the cutting of the bad key. Still I saved a few bucks but still sucks that now I have a door only key.
