These skates reminded me of skates I had growing up, but poorly imitated. There is no flex in this plastic, it feels like it would break in a sharp and unsafe way. The opening is wide and narrow, but without flex it doesn't seem like it would fit most kids. The buckles are the worst, they were hard to open and operate. Once the strap is out they fell apart on both skates, leading me to think it's a poor design issue. In my house, that clip is going to get lost and then the skates won't strap. The adjustment at the bottom is a wingnut, not a button like in the directions. The wheels don't roll, but thats not really a problem for someone just learning. The brake on the front is made out of the same plastic as everything else on these skates, it will either snap or damage the floor. They're hollow so if a kid goes onto the dirt they're just going to make a divot. The designs are weird and incongruous. Cacti on the top, flowers on the wheels and brake. I don't think some kids would like the daisies all over. The box lists urethane wheels, lace up. And synthetic leather, none of which these have.I'm not even going to let my kid try them, I don't think they're safe and feel like they'd hurt his feet.

My first impression on opening the box is that these are really cheap. The plastic is flimsy and the ankle band doesn't adjust smoothly (even an older child would struggle to get these on and off themselves). That being said, my 2 year old is thrilled to have some skates to wear with his older brother, and I like that the wheels aren't "fast" (i.e. they are sort of sticky and he can essentially march around in them and sort of slide, but they don't go too fast so seem a little safer for a beginning skater). They are also really easy to adjust the length on (a simple wingnut to loosen, expand, then tighten). I doubt these will hold up long, but they're really only needed to get the basics of skating down and then we'll upgrade to a nicer pair, so they work great for what they are (and for $20 new, you can't really beat the price).
