K&L has a fitment chart that shows these will work in a 1998 Valkyrie. Which is great, because they are almost 6 times cheaper than genuine Honda (cheapest price I've found for Honda needles is $21.98 EACH, and there are six carbs on the bike). The K&L's look like the old ones that came out of my carbs and they fit in OK, but they throw off the float height - should be 13.7 +/- 0.5mm, but it's coming in around 16mm with these needles. That's a big error. As a sanity check I measured float height using the old needles, and also using new needles from an All Balls Racing rebuild kit. Both type of needles yield in-spec float height. So my floats aren't the problem, there's something wrong with these K&L needles. The overall length of the K&L matches my old needles exactly, as far as I'm able to measure. However placing the needles in the valve seat (without the float), the K&L's stick out noticeably higher. Close examination showed that the conical tip on the K&L has a different shape from my old needles - K&L has a slight radius at the tip while the old needles come to a point, so the K&L "cone" is a bit fatter. I think that's what's causing this - a tiny error there will make a large difference at the float body due to the leverage involved. The rubber tip is the only place I could see any difference whatsoever between K&L and my old needles (other than a higher polish on the K&L metal section). This is my second set of K&L needles, I returned the first set because of this problem, and the replacement set is the same. I was hoping the first set were the wrong type (mis-packaged). Nope. So I'll have get a refund. So beware if you're installing these in a 1998 vintage Valkyrie. Check your float height, don't just assume it will be correct.I'm now debating using the no-name Chinese needles from the All Balls set, or buying genuine Honda which will set me back $150 or so. Probably will bite the bullet and buy Honda - aftermarket parts are a crap shoot at best, and you don't want to risk hydro-lock by using crummy float needles.

Why spend a fortune on OEM parts when K&L Supply has it for a quarter of the price. I would recommend this company to anybody that needs carb. parts at a decent price. The quality is second to none.

I ordered this for a 1985 CB700sc. These are to long and will cause the float to be out of adjustment and not allow fuel to flow. Stay with the OEM float valves for this model. I gave them 3 stars because the quality seemed good but the models they fit is incorrect.

These float needles have springs that are stronger than the OEM float needles in the Honda Valkyrie bike. This will help prevent the problem of hydro-locking caused by leaking float needle valves , which can occur with this type of bike, resulting in significant and costly engine damage.
