Scanner is well designed and well built. Easy to assembly and fold when finished using. As with anything used along with a cell-phone camera, some experimenting is required for good results, and of course, the better the cell-phone, the better the results will be. I am using an old iPhone 6s, and I am very pleased with the resulting photos.Would definitely recommend this scanner for anyone needing to convert a few slides.Dave

This is great little display box for 35mm film negatives. Taking pictures with my iPhone – not so much. Their iOS app is ok – at least it is free, unlike their competition that charges a monthly subscription fee (!?). It's a little quirky, but it does the job.My biggest complaint is that you can't fill the field of view. I tried both iPhones 13 Pro and 16 Pro, and only the ultra-wide camera (0.5X) would focus on the film, not the normal (1X). The software crops the image, but then you're left with a snapshot with only 500 or 600 pixels on a side – not good. Switching out the vertical supports for the included shorter ones does help a bit, since then the camera is closer and fills more of the frame, but still not great. In the end, I ended up just using my dSLR with a macro zoom lens and extension tube mounted on small tripod to re-photograph the negative. With an extremely shallow depth-of-field, it takes a couple tries to get the film negative properly in focus. I still can't fill the frame, but at least it's high enough resolution with cropping to see the film grain. It's a little tedious working with negatives, focus, shoot. But without a doubt, it's far better than just scanning a three-decade old print. I can pull out much dynamic range from the negative, and I can use modern software to clean up and adjust the picture more than I ever could before. For the price, and relatively few cherry-picked photos that I want to digitize, it's definitely worth it.

I ordered this scanner for a second shot at my pre-digital 35mm negatives. The scanner is plastic but sturdy, is easy to assemble (2 AA batteries included), and is easy to use. Negatives slide between gates over the light source, and your cell phone overhangs a shelf with camera lens exposed. My cell phone focused automatically (without macro) and I used the cell phone zoom function to fit the negative image to the cell phone screen. Once set up, scanning successive negative images is a "slide and shoot" fast function. It's not a scanning function, but photo editing improves the end results. I used (not included but affordable) Corel PaintShop Pro desktop PC software for cropping, conversion to positive, correcting old film color shift, and photo enhancement. The two attached photos are (nominally 1900 pixel by 2800 pixel) scans of 35 year old color negatives. The edited scans print well.

I needed to scan 200 slides for a photo book. Aftern discovering that my Canon slide scanner was not supported by Canon anymore, I was in a bind. I orded thie slide scanner as a quick, cheap alternative.I was blown away by how well the KLIM K2 Mobile Film Scanner worked. I created three 70-page photo books for my family and they look great. The scanner is easy to use and I could edit the slides for brightness, contract, etc. as I scanned each slide. This might not be great for professional photographers, but it was perfect for me. I can't say enough about this product. It's a fantastic value!

When I purchased this I wasn’t expecting Epson quality scans and I wasn’t disappointed. The scans I was getting using the software were 2mp to 3mp file size which is basically useless for printing pictures. It’s fine to digitize old slides - my preference - and look at them on computer but forget about printing pictures. They came out grainy and were a waste of paper and ink.I also used my iPhone 15 Pro Max camera and got better pictures but nothing to write home about.I then tried with my ProCamera app on the same phone and got much better “scansâ€. It was harder to set up though. But still not great print quality.Overall it’s an ok way to digitize film and slides but if you want scans to print quality pictures get an epson v600 - I will be.

Scanner works for me with my old slides. I am transferring them to my computer to organize. The app included work to my satisfaction.

Process is so slow, not fault of the device, this just takes a long time. Works very well.

The KLIM K2 Mobile Film Scanner is very compact but sturdy. It is made of good materials, the orange support legs are lighter than expected, but they do the job. The phone is very secure in position and nothing moves. The guides on the light table hold the negative roll securely. The app processes it quite quickly and has basic tools. It’d be nice if there was something for automatic colour adjustment. The temperature, contrast, exposure, and saturation tools just aren’t good enough. There was no point in messing around in the app to get that right, I’ll fix things in Photoshop instead. When I hit the “Export†button once finished with adjustments, I consistently got an error message saying it couldn’t export – but it did. I hit OK, fine, then saw a message under that error window saying it had been saved. Sharing it was super easy and fast. I use KDE Connect to share it to my desktop and it actually made a shortcut straight to my PC name, bypassing the usual KDE Connect > PC-name to share. It does a good job and makes it fast and easy. It’s compact and comes in a very high quality box, the sort you’d get a board game in. That makes for a nice and safe way to store it when not in use.I think it’s pretty good. I wish the app was better, but I do recommend it. Maybe other negatives would be better than the ones I have, perhaps they’re just too old and really need the help of Photoshop.

It's incredibly easy to use, simply slot the film into the scanner, position your smartphone on top, and capture the images using the free app. The results are surprisingly good, with clear and detailed digital copies of my old photos. Â I've used it to digitize old family photos, holiday snaps, and even some vintage slides, and it's been a joy to bring those memories back to life. The scanner is lightweight and portable, making it easy to take with me when visiting relatives or sorting through old boxes of photos. Â While the image quality isn't professional-grade, it's perfectly adequate for preserving and sharing old memories. The app also offers some basic editing tools, allowing me to adjust brightness, contrast, and colour to enhance the images. However, the scanner does require a bit of patience and a steady hand to get the best results. Aligning the phone camera and ensuring the film is properly positioned can be a bit fiddly at times. Also, the app can be a bit slow to process the images.
