I needed a standup drill press but really did not want to spend $500 plus for a name brand one. As more of a hobbyist use, heavy duty was not necessary and this unit seems to work well. It is a bit crudely made, what do you expect for the price, but it works and has plenty of torque for anything I need. The little gooseneck work light is functional and does help. All in all very happy and no issues so far. For light duty occasional use, look no further.

I had to replace my 25 year old 2nd hand drill press but didn't want to spend a boat load of money. I decided on the KLUTCH after comparing different brands and reading the reviews. Now I will say the shipping box looked like it had been around the world a couple of times but to my amazement everything was intact, and it arrived early. There were no instructions but having a mechanical background assembly was no big deal. Now this is not a high end drill press by any means, but if you want something on a budget that will get most jobs done this is the one for you. With 16 speed it has all the power and the speed when needed, and it will look good in your shop or garage.

After drilling about five holes in a maple newal post (for horizontal rods) the chuck and arbor fell out. Pressure fitted the chuck and arbor back into the spindle according to directions. Drilled about five more holes and the whole spindle with chuck and arbor fell out. See picture. Returning this piece of junk back to Northern Tool.

No instructions so be prepared to look them up. It's nice and nothing was missing but it's yet to be seen if we can use it on anything other than wood.
