Seems to work just fine, I mostly use it for cooking to check the temperature of a skillet or hot oils for deep fryingIt's accurate within a degree or two as long as you adjust the thermometer for the different surfaces to be tested and it comes with a chart to use for different surfaces and how to adjust the thermometer for each and the price is right I've used more expensive units in the past and I see no difference between them. I would recommend this thermometer to anyone looking to buy one without breaking the bank to do so.

Very easy to use. I use it for my bearded dragons tank and it works wonders for him. I now know what each section of his tank is at whenever I feel it’s too cold or hot for him. It’s light weight and easy to grip. Comes with batteries already so you don’t have to worry if you forgot to get batteries before you use it, nope they come with it which is a huge plus for me as batteries aren’t easy to come by in my household. Looks just like the picture. Does exactly what it says it does. It’s new so now I just have to see how long it will last and be accurate for. Definitely a great value and worth every penny. Its Accuracy is amazing. You just point the lazer light at where you want to check and there you have it your temperature.

I researched emissivity which I knew nothing about and learned that this came with a setting of an average of .95. That seems to be a pretty standard setting for most objects. I like that you can turn the backlit display on or off, turn the laser on or off, and adjust the emissivity depending on the sensitivity required. It seems to be quite accurate and very inexpensive so I'm a satisfied customer. I tested this on my deep fat fryer and my gas oven and the settings correspond on both within a degree or so

Well, it does not work for body temperature at all, but this is noted in the description. I like the laser pointer and quick selection of Celsius or Farenheight and display light.
