It slides on over the release screw, turns 1/4 turn then secured in place with a set screw (included) from the end of the knob. You will need to use a 5/32 hex key (Allen wrench) This particular part is designed for the Harbor Freight Hydraulic Bottle Jack used in the 6, 12 & 20 ton arbor presses but will work on any bottle jack with a 3/8 and 7/18" diameter valve release screw having a DO NOT USE WHEN LIFTING VEHICLES: ONLY TO BE USED ON HYDRAULIC PRESS APPLICATIONS!

I purchased this to add onto my hydraulic press. I'm using a 20 ton pneumatic jack on a Harbor Freight press frame. It works well, but one annoying thing was always having to reach for the jack handle to release the pressure. I did a quick search and found this product on Amazon and decided to pull the trigger. It's well machined, fit perfectly and worked pretty well. I say pretty well because the jack I have has a pretty tight release valve, and it took a lot of effort to tighten it to the point where it was solid. I decided to remove it and put it into my milling machine, drill a pilot hole through the knob, and then drill two .290" holes to a depth of .350" on both sides of the knob following the pilot hole, and then tapped them with a 5/16-18 bottoming tap. I then made two pins out of some 5/16-18 bolts I had laying around, where I parted off the head, parted off the extra thread (I left about .375"), and then sanded/scotchbrited them. I then installed them into knob with some red Loctite. Now I can get a bit more torque to close the release valve without feeling like it's peeling the skin off my fingers. With or without the mod, it's a great addition, especially on a press application.

How can something this simple be so good? I have a Harbor Freight 20 ton press. It has the standard "crossbar" open and close valve. Whenever I used the press, I had to insert the press lever tube around the crossbar and either tighten it to press something or loosen it after I was finished. This knob eliminates all of that and you can use your fingers to open and close the valve. It is a simple add on that will make using the press much easier. It fit perfectly and works perfectly. Get yourself one of these!

Excellent product- is very well-made looks nice and easy to install - you don’t even have to remove the pin in the valve stem - just slipped the knob on there tighten the included set screw and it works great!

I really like this knob and it's function. Only issue I had was my harbor freight bottle jack had a some what oval release and not a tee which this is designed for. I simply took a 1/8 inch drill bit and drilled a hole through the bottle jack oval, insert a metal rod to make a tee, then stick this knob on and secure with set screw, fit perfect, now it is a simple twist instead of using the jack handle to release, quick and easy. Such a simple item to make life easier! Just buy it!

This thing is beefy. I wasn’t sure what I’d be getting but this thing is nice and well made. Locks onto the jack nice and firmly with the supplied set screw. It’s currently being used on a harbor freight 20 ton press.

Added this to my 12 ton press. Works so much smother than using the jack handle to release the jack.
