I like that it is painted, for I fish mostly salt water. Overall, looks to be well made, and I like the bigger crank handle that comes with this winch.I did run into an issue installing this winch. This winch has a longer mounting base, and it would not line up with the mounting holes for the one I removed. I had to drill two 3/8 holes on the trailer base to mount the winch. (See photos). Also, I would not use the provided bolts for they are way too small for this winch. I used 3/8 1 1/2 stainless steel bolts with locking nuts and had no issues installing.

I didn't use this for a boat, I have a car hauler and I needed to tow one of my vehicles that was inoperable. I mounted the winch onto the spare tire carrier and had that bolted to the cross frame. It works but I'm going to come up with a better setup at some point and probably build a custom winch mount for it.Because i was only able to use the fast speed and my handle would nick the side of the trailer if the winch wasnt at an angle not very good for winching.It pulled my 3800 lb car up and on the trailer with no problems that were caused by the winch (I need to build dovetail for my trailer)It works decently, the mounting hardware that comes with it I'd reccomend upgrading and getting some good and stout washers.

Has a very large, heavy duty snap hook. The handle is a little flimsy, and I had to beef it up with washers.
