This tagine is the miracle cookware that you didn't know that you NEED! It has FAR exceeded my expectations, and I'm so happy that I took a chance on it because it is so versatile and easy to use/clean. It is also better quality (and larger) than fancy-brand versions that go for 4 times the price!Although tempted, I had resisted buying a clay tagine in the past because it seemed a little too niche, but the cast-iron bottom of this version is an absolute game-changer! It is even enameled cast-iron, so there is no continuous maintenance required with oiling, etc.; the instructions make it clear that it's ready to go after a single wash, right out of the box.The fact that I can plop this tagine right on my stovetop is, honestly, more awesome than words can describe -- that might sound dorky, but cooks who appreciate ease and practicality will adore it. Having the option to use it in the oven for slow-roasting is great, but quickly cooking up meals without lugging it out of the oven to check on progress makes this tagine something that can truly be used to cook just about anything on even given day. Meats cook rapidly but stay so very moist and delicious, and there's no limit to what can be added. The size is bigger, and importantly, deeper than expected. You can truly cook a whole roast or chicken with additional ingredients (plus room for liquid) for a whole family without it being a tight squeeze. The well-designed features ensure that it doesn't leak steam/water during cooking, and the lip around the bottom makes it easy to pick up and move around. It's heavy, quality-made, and definitely my new favorite kitchen gadget.LOVE IT! Fervently recommend it for making tagines or any meal whatsoever!

Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional this is the perfect tagine - look no further. No cracks, no pre-seasoning, no worries. This is it! I use these for my cooking school to teach how to cook tagine meals. This cast iron, heavy duty tagine is up to the challenge of allowing you to prepare the tastiest and best looking meals to your family. Presentation is already assured! Serve right from the tagine. Your family and friends will be so impressed! Unlike stupid kitchen "gadgets" this is a kitchen must that you will most definitely will use daily and with care will be used for a lifetime! Here's a quick pic of my tagine in use in my home kitchen. I was browning boneless/skinless chicken thighs to which I will add veggies, orzo and various seasonings, The shape of the cover automatically renders the most beautiful sauce, flavor and moisture to your dish....just add ingredients, cover and voila - Dinner is served...and this time to me... for a change :)

I love that I can use this on the stove top, in the oven & at the campsite over an open or on the grill. So convenient if your camper doesn’t have an oven.Pop that roast or chicken inside with your potatoes, veggies, liquid, put the cover on & let it cook using its own steam to keep everything moist & juicy. The color is nice, the weight is perfect, cleans easy enough & ist so versatile.Great value for the obey & the amount of uses.

After using my clay tajine from Morocco here for years, I decided to give this one a try to avoid use of a heat diffuser. LOVE THIS PRODUCT! Sturdy, beautiful and cooks moroccan cuisine perfectly.

As soon as I got it I made a chicken, dried apricot and cinnamon dish that was delicious. This tagine kept the chicken tender, stewed the apricots and other ingredients beautifully and was easy to clean in the end. It is also attractive enough as a cooking vessel to leave out on display when not in use. In short, a great buy.

I bought this tajine to replace a clay one after its lid fell and broke. The first dish, chicken with veggies came out fine. The second one, beef bourgignon, did not. The recipe required oven cooking, so instead of the tajine lid, I used a flat lid from another pot. The wine and stock liquid remained very soupy even after almost two hours of cooking so I added some buttered flower to thicken it and returned the pot in the oven on lower heat, 300F. After another couple of hours the sauce almost completely evaporated and became too brown. I added more wine, port and beef broth to improve the taste, but the meat was overdone by then. So cast iron works completely differently from a clay tajine. It has its advantages ( you can brown the meat directly in it) and disadvantages (it is very hard for me too get it foo cook slowly - the temps always seem high in cast iron). The clay tajine needs different kind of care and it can crack even if you use a diffuser, but if you want real slow cooking and can obtain low, even temperatures on your stove, you will get excellent results. I need a recipe book for the Kook and more experience to give it a proper evaluation.

Its a nice pot for for cooking food to low AGEs. Its heavy though, as it is cast iron and a ceramic lid.

This is a really good quality. I like how deep the base is so stuff doesn't overflow. Much better design then a lot of tagines. Highly recommend

Delighted with this tagine. It is a perfect size and - although some reviewers have stated it is heavy, it's not that heavy: a "medium" weight (lighter than our large Le Creusot Tureen) and the cast iron ensures even cooking and retention of heat. Importantly, although earlier reviewers stated the ceramic top lacked a small vent hole which could result in internal pressure causing seepage from the rim, the manufacturer has obviously taken note and it now HAS the hole. This was a valid criticism and the tagine will work better without having to minimise liquid and cook on extremely low setting. - Of course it should be used at a pretty low setting to get the best results, but you don't have to be worried about liquid spilling over the hob. It's so much better than our previous small, clay, tagine and, so much more convenient to be able to sear meat and fry onions, prior to simmering, in the same pot. The build quality, size and appearance is good also. - The depth is a plus as it will cope with 4 to 6 servings.
