I have this great set of flannel sheets. They have been washed so many times that the tags are not readable. They are soooo comforta ... gah! The seams have broken at all of the corners! The thread appears to have come undone on two of the corners, and the other two just ripped at the seam ... about three inches along the corner. Otherwise, they are in great shape. I wonder if they is an inexpensive way to fix these well loved sheets. Do it yourself. And that's always the answer.I looked at sewing machines, but they are pretty pricey for a decent one. They are also bloated with features to the point where I can't really work it without taking a class on it, and my college days have passed me. Some machines I needed to major in Sewing to use.So, I stumble upon this mini KPCB upgraded sewing machine. I read the reviews, and they are quite impressive. I have a look at the pictures, and I think ... wait, it's plastic! And it looks small, like a kid's toy. And it's plastic. It's too inexpensive to work like a real machine. It's still plastic.I re-read the reviews. Well, kids can use it, but it's not a toy. It's simple to use, great for repairing things. It's reasonably well constructed. There are video instructions on how to use it (not very long, 8 to 10 minutes or so, I checked). The support people are great.Amazon has a great return policy, so ...It arrived, and I re-watched the videos. Too simple, but knowing me, I'll have some issues. Let me run a few tests and make sure all of the buttons work. They do. Let me go ahead and remove the cloth like in the video and re-stitch it. I do, and it's fine. I make a note to leave lots of thread when removing the sewn item ... I need to tie both ends near the cloth, double knot. Also, the machine itself needs at least about 10 inches to start (so that I can tie a knot in the thread where its starts sewing, and also the machine needs a lead piece as the video instructed). Great, no problem.I would like to use the foot pedal, but I'm too clunky with my feet. It's hard to work that way for me. Not everyone, just me. Wait... if I put the "foot" pedal under my right arm, about half way between hand and elbow, I can control the machine AND guide the cloth. That worked out great! So, I grab the fitted sheet that needs repair. I overlay the two pieces of cloth and put a pin or two in them to keep the edges together, nice and straight. I raise the sewing machine foot, line up the edge, and put in the cloth. I clamp down the sewing machine foot, and I turn the knob on the right side, following the arrows, to make a few stitches first (as the instructions recommend). I turn on the light, set the machine to low speed, hold the cloth to feed it, and .... engage foot pedal! It sews at a speed that I can keep pace with. It went all the way through, no problems. It all lined up very nicely. I followed the instructions to find the sweet spot so that the thread will pull without resistance and the cloth slides right out. On the upper thread I took it out of the tensioner and used my finger to hold it. It pulled much easier that way, and I stuck it back when I had enough. Pull out plenty as this will need tying on the cloth side, and it becomes the lead thread for sewing the next item.Well, it came out perfectly on both sides. Not too shabby. Better than expected, actually. Much better. I did another one as re-enforcement, and then I tied all the thread ends up near the cloth. I did all four corners this way.I guess I was thinking there would be more to it. The machine worked quite well, and it seemed well constructed ... even if it is plastic. The support people answered a question I had, and were very prompt and polite. I could see kids using this with supervision at a reasonable age. Huh, just like advertised and reviewed. How often does THAT happen?Side Note: Technically, I could have sew everything by hand without even turning the sewing machine on (just by manually turning the right knob). Good to know if you're camping and have no power. It does sew without power.

I got this for my 10 year old. It’s the perfect size! Compact yet sturdy and powerful. It was easy to thread and use. I would recommend especially for beginners or children.

I am a very experienced sewist, had many sewing machines and can give advice on buying, fixing and selling machines. Without a sewing machine right now and cannot make up my darn mind which one to buy,I want them all! But I need to repair, hem and make some simple items now, so thought I'd give this little thing a shot, first it arrived fast and I put it to the test! quite impressive that it sewed thick fabric layers without a problem, it is not too fast so good for beginners, but there is two speeds for the impatient (like me). It is threaded out of the box, has 4 extra metal bobbins, one loaded black thread, the machine is pre-thread with white. A needle threader and two more needles. Threading is super easy, lite is good enough and has on off switch, you can use the foot pedal or just press a button to run it. It is a little noisy so no sewing next to a sleeping baby or hubby! It sews straight stitch only. A great inexpensive, starter machine for those wanting to start sewing or fix clothing, good for guys that need to hem pants in a jiffy. I Like that it fits in a drawer and the extra table is pretty useful. Two thumbs up!

Yes it’s very small, but it’s a great deal overall. Or at least it would be if threading didn’t keep coming apart. It advertises “double stitch” when it’s only a single. Do I want to repeatedly go over something just to get the double? Absolutely not. It also arrived pre-used. It was full sealed, yet the white was already threaded & there was orange fabric that had been stitched; this was weird and gross af sanitary wise. Why am I paying full price for a used product

I am a beginner sewer and this machine is perfect for that. Little overwhelming learning something new but this sewing machine makes it not so bad learning. It threads very well and wasn’t too difficult trying to forgive out. I like that it came with the threads and accessories to get me started as well. Only thing I’ll say is wish it had a little more weight to it so it doesn’t move around as much, but it’s stillPretty sturdy and has helped me learn how to sew.

This is this cutest thing ever. My grand daughters have wanted a sewing machine for a while. I’m so happy to have found this for them. It was so easy for them to use. It seems sturdy enough to withstand their sewing on it. This sewing machine is perfect!!

Perfect for the beginner. Low quality machine. Could use a tension upgrade to help thread flow better but otherwise good to help the young sewing person get comfortable with a machine

This is a good quality sewing machine for smaller jobs it will sew through 2 layers of denim easily, which is no small thing for a battery powered machine, the stitching quality is good and neat, the added included accessories are a bonus and the extension table is useful to have, the only is i would of liked is a reverse stitching function and a brighter sewing light, but at this price point you can't have everything and what you get in this neat little package is a excellent value for money easy to use sewing machine, which i would recommend to anyone

Originally got a dud machine but customer service was fast, friendly and efficient and replaced the unit straight away. The second one works much better than expected at this price and my missus loves it.
