La Bella Has Over 400 Years of String Making Experience

The tradition of string making dates back to the 1640s in Salle, Italy, where the Mari family supplied gut strings to the famous violin builders of Cremona. In 1913, brothers Olinto & Emilio Mari arrived in New York bringing their family craft to the States. Over the years, the brothers shaped the landscape of the string industry with their innovative designs. Every set is manufactured using a perfect combination of traditional methods and latest technologies to produce a superior string.

767-6N Bass VI Nickel Plated Round Wound - 26-95

Upgrade your Bass VI with a set of La Bella Strings! These strings have been specifically constructed to perfectly fit your Bass VI instrument with the right amount of taper by the small ball ends and slimmer tuning post sections. These strings are tuned an octave lower than a guitar (EADGBE) and are NOT 6-string bass strings (tuned B to C). These strings are compatible with Fender Bass VI instruments.

I ordered these to breathe new life into my Squier Bass VI-- the factory strings are too small and flop around, leading to a dead tone. I am extremely impressed by these strings: perfectly balanced tension, great sound. However, what really impressed me was La Bella's customer service. The set initially came with a defective low E-- too short so the the winding ended just before the nut. Chicago Music Exchange put me in touch with La Bella, and they replied within minutes by email. The sent me a new string free of charge (and a really cool sticker to boot!) This company is a pleasure to do business with, and will be my go-to for bass strings from now on.

I usually like this company’s strings, but this set didn’t work for me.Tried installing it into my Vintera II Bass VI, and now I’m sad.High/thinner sting tension on this set is a bit too high.I actually managed to strip a brass gear in a machine head on B/2nd string so now I need a new set of machine heads…Internet says it’s known problem with this set of roundwounds (doesn’t apply to flats though). Also I don’t like how E/6th has completely unwound bare core end, i’d rather prefer it tapered as it stays inside post better, bare core slips out with tension drop real fast, not sure if it’s even possible to downtune.A/5th is just straight and fits into post fine.I’m glad fender now has proper thickness set for Bass VI with tapered E/6th, I guess I’ll have to use those instead.

Improved sound quality on my Bass VI noticeably, quite nice to play, just wish the low E was another couple sizes bigger, it still has some buzzing issues

These strings are great when used as they were intended to be used. These strings are specifically made for the Fender Bass VI which is not actually a conventional Bass Guitar, but rather a 30" scale guitar tuned one octave lower. They will not fit ANY conventional bass guitar. I hope this prevents anyone else from making the same mistake that the other reviewer here made, which brings me to the one drawback of these strings; they are expensive. D'addario makes a set at one third the cost but their .084 gauged low E string doesn't cut it. Could be worse though. If you choose to string it as the instrument was originally strung, which is with Flatwounds, it gets even more ridiculously expensive. Keep them clean and get the most use out of them that you can, or keep them on forever for that flatwound thud.
